Fitness Instructor shall:

1.23.1 Have a Degree or Diploma in Exercise Science, Physical Education, Kinesiology, or an equivalent field and Professional certification from a recognized organization in the health & fitness industry. He/she must have an internationally recognized certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid.

1.23.2 Have a minimum of two (2) years of practical experience in an exercise facility and one (1) year supervisory.

1.23.3 Have an excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of the physiological and bio-mechanical principles of exercise.

1.23.4 Be familiar with the body's various energy systems and appropriate types of exercise regimens to develop these systems.

1.23.5 Have a good overview of training to enhance cardiovascular development, strength development, flexibility development; training to reduce body fat, sports-specific training. He/she must have a sound knowledge of current training equipment including resistance machines, free weights, and cardiovascular equipment.

1.23.6 Possess practical knowledge of healthy nutritional practices and be able to clearly communicate them.

1.23.7 Be able to design safe, progressive exercise programs which take into account contraindications to exercise and the individual or group exercise limitations.

1.23.8 Be familiar with a variety of sub-maximal exercise testing modalities and protocols.

1.23.9 Be an excellent promoter of healthy lifestyles and be able to motivate individuals to begin exercise participation or continue participation in existing exercise programs.

1.23.10 Exhibit and demonstrate professional behavior and appearance.

1.23.11 Be courteous to customers and patrons and shall have an interest in people when asked for guidance.
