Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer with experience in 3D modeling, 2D drafting, and tool design specifically for composite layup processes . The ideal candidate will work closely with our engineering and production teams to develop accurate designs, tooling solutions, and manufacturing drawings to support the production of high-quality composite components. Key Responsibilities Develop 3D CAD models of composite parts, assemblies, and tools using software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or Siemens NX. Prepare detailed 2D engineering drawings for manufacturing, assembly, and quality inspection. Design molds, fixtures, and tooling required for composite layup, curing, and machining processes. Collaborate with production engineers to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness. Support DFM (Design for Manufacturing) reviews, ensuring compliance with tolerances, material properties, and composite layup techniques. Work on BOM (Bill of Materials) preparation and maintain revision control for drawings and documentation. Participate in prototype builds, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives . Provide technical input for RFQs and customer proposals . Qualifications Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field . 3–8 years of experience in design engineering, preferably with exposure to composites. Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX, or equivalent). Hands-on experience with 2D drafting and GD&T . Knowledge of composite layup processes, vacuum bagging, autoclave curing, and tooling requirements . Understanding of manufacturing tolerances, structural properties, and materials used in composites . Familiarity with FEA/structural analysis tools (preferred but not mandatory). Key Skills Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to translate customer requirements into manufacturable designs . Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality . Strong organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
