Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Export Manager to manage and expand the company's international business for fire safety products. The candidate will be responsible for export operations, international sales development, export documentation, logistics coordination, compliance, and building long-term relationships with overseas customers and distributors.
Candidates with experience in fire safety equipment, firefighting products, fire protection systems, or industrial manufacturing exports will be preferred.
Key Responsibilities
1. Export Sales & International Business Development
- Develop and execute export strategies to increase international sales and market share.
- Identify new markets, overseas customers, distributors, dealers, and business partners.
- Generate export enquiries, prepare quotations, negotiate pricing, and close international business deals.
- Develop and maintain relationships with international clients and channel partners.
- Explore opportunities in international markets across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and other relevant regions.
2. Export Operations & Documentation
- Manage the complete export cycle, from order confirmation to shipment and payment follow-up.
- Handle export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, shipping bills, certificates of origin, and bills of lading or airway bills.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, shipping lines, and logistics providers.
- Ensure timely dispatches and delivery of export orders.
- Coordinate with internal teams for production planning, packaging, dispatch, and shipment schedules.
3. International Trade Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable Indian export regulations, customs requirements, and international trade procedures.
- Coordinate documentation and requirements relating to the Importer Exporter Code (IEC), GST, LUT, and applicable export incentives.
- Understand Incoterms, letters of credit (LC), bank documentation, and international payment terms.
- Ensure export documentation is accurate and complete for customs clearance and payment processing.
- Coordinate with banks and finance teams regarding export proceeds, foreign exchange documentation, and outstanding payments.
4. Fire Safety Product & Market Knowledge
- Develop a strong understanding of the company's fire safety product portfolio.
- Understand applicable product certifications, technical specifications, and destination-country requirements.
- Coordinate with technical and quality teams for customer documentation and product compliance requirements.
- Monitor international competitors, market pricing, customer requirements, and industry trends.
5. Order Management & Logistics
- Monitor export orders from order receipt through shipment and final delivery.
- Coordinate with production, purchase, quality, stores, and dispatch teams.
- Ensure export packaging and labelling comply with customer and destination-country requirements.
- Resolve shipment delays, documentation discrepancies, and customer concerns.
6. Team Management & Reporting
- Lead and supervise the export team.
- Set export sales targets and monitor performance against business plans.
- Prepare reports on export sales, profitability, market development, and outstanding payments.
- Develop annual export budgets and sales forecasts for management review.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of international trade, export sales, and export documentation.
- Experience in overseas customer handling and international business development.
- Knowledge of Incoterms, customs clearance, freight forwarding, LC, and export payment terms.
- Understanding of export compliance and relevant customs and foreign trade procedures.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and client relationship management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP systems, and export documentation processes.
