ETL Tester - Job Description

Job Title:

Experience:

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented ETL Tester to validate data extraction, transformation, and loading processes across enterprise data warehouse and reporting systems. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in ETL testing, SQL, data validation, and data warehousing concepts.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze business requirements, source-to-target mappings, and data models.
Create and execute ETL test cases, test plans, and test strategies.
Validate data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.
Perform source-to-target data validation and reconciliation.
Develop SQL queries to verify data accuracy, completeness, and integrity.
Validate data warehouse, data marts, and reporting systems.
Perform functional, regression, integration, and system testing.
Identify, document, and track defects using tools such as JIRA.
Work closely with ETL developers, data engineers, business analysts, and stakeholders.
Generate test execution reports and provide testing status updates.

Required Skills

Strong experience in
ETL Testing
.
Hands-on expertise in
SQL
(complex queries, joins, subqueries, stored procedures).
Experience in testing ETL tools such as
Informatica, Talend, DataStage, SSIS, Ab Initio
, or similar.
Knowledge of
Data Warehousing
concepts including Facts, Dimensions, Star Schema, and Snowflake Schema.
Experience in source-to-target data validation.
Understanding of data migration and data quality testing.
Familiarity with defect tracking tools such as JIRA.
Experience working in Agile methodologies.

Preferred Skills

Exposure to
Big Data Testing
(Hive, Hadoop, Spark).
Experience with cloud platforms such as
AWS, Azure, or GCP
.
Knowledge of BI/reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Cognos.
Basic automation skills using Python or SQL scripting.
Experience with data lake and data pipeline validation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
ISTQB certification is an added advantage.

Excellent understanding of data flows and transformations.
Attention to detail and data accuracy.
Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
