Job Role - Business Unit Head - Soft Drinks Manufacturing (Profit Centre Head) for a diverse FMCG Conglomerate. Job Location - Luanda, Angola Africa Reporting to - CEO Position Overview The Business Unit Head will be responsible for the strategic, operational, and financial performance of the concentrated soft drinks division. This role will oversee end-to-end business functions including production, sales, marketing, supply chain, quality, and compliance. The individual will drive growth, profitability, innovation, and operational excellence while ensuring alignment with the overall corporate objectives. Key Responsibilities Strategic & Business Leadership Develop and execute the business unit strategy in alignment with the company’s long term vision. Identify growth opportunities in domestic and international markets for soft drink concentrates. Lead product innovation and portfolio diversification to meet changing consumer preferences and regulatory standards. Manage P&L responsibility, ensuring profitability and sustainable growth. Operations & Manufacturing Oversee production planning, capacity utilization, and operational efficiency. Ensure consistent product quality, taste, and compliance with food safety standards (e.g., FSSAI, FDA, HACCP, ISO, GMP). Implement lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement initiatives. Monitor raw material procurement (sugar, flavourings, concentrates, packaging) for cost optimization and quality control. Sales & Marketing Drive sales strategy for B2B (distributors, bottlers, beverage companies) and B2C (as applicable). Build strong customer and distributor relationships to expand market presence. Develop pricing, branding, and promotional strategies tailored to regional markets. Monitor competitor landscape and consumer trends to maintain market competitiveness. Supply Chain & Distribution Ensure timely procurement, production, and distribution of concentrates to key partners. Strengthen logistics and supply chain efficiency to minimize lead times and costs. Develop export opportunities and manage national/international distribution channels. Finance & Compliance Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting for the business unit. Ensure compliance with food safety laws, labelling regulations, and environmental standards. Drive cost reduction initiatives while maintaining product quality. People Leadership Build, lead, and mentor cross-functional teams across operations, sales, R&D, and support functions. Foster a culture of performance, accountability, and innovation. Implement training and development programs to enhance workforce capability. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Revenue and profitability growth of the business unit. Market share expansion in target geographies. Production efficiency and cost optimization. Product quality compliance and zero critical non-conformities. New product launches and innovation pipeline. Employee engagement and retention rates. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Business Administration, preferably with Food Technology, or related field. 18–25 years of experience in FMCG/beverage/food manufacturing, with at least 10 years in a senior leadership role. Proven track record of P&L management and business growth. Strong knowledge of beverage formulations, concentrates, and regulatory frameworks. Expertise in operations management, sales leadership, and supply chain management. Minimum 3-5 years of work experience in Africa Key Skills Strategic thinking and business acumen.
