Role & responsibilities

Job Summary

The Endoscopy Nurse Manager is responsible for the clinical, operational, and administrative management of the endoscopy unit. This role ensures high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, staff leadership, and efficient workflow across all endoscopic procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership

• Oversee safe, evidence-based nursing care for endoscopic procedures (e.g., EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP, bronchoscopy as applicable).
  
• Ensure adherence to infection prevention, reprocessing, and patient safety standards.
  
• Monitor quality indicators, patient outcomes, and adverse events.
  
• Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize care delivery.
  

Staff Management

• Recruit, orient, schedule, and retain nursing and support staff.
  
• Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and ongoing competency validation.
  
• Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professional development.
  
• Address staff concerns, conflict resolution, and corrective actions as needed.
  

Operations & Workflow

• Manage daily unit operations to ensure efficient patient flow and case turnover.
  
• Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
  
• Oversee equipment readiness, scope inventory, and reprocessing workflow.
  
• Participate in capital planning and equipment procurement.
  

Quality, Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, SGNA, AAMI).
  
• Lead audits, tracers, and regulatory surveys.
  
• Implement quality improvement initiatives and performance metrics.
  
• Ensure proper documentation and EMR compliance.
  

Education & Professional Practice

• Support staff education, certifications, and continuing education.
  
• Stay current with endoscopy best practices and emerging technologies.
  
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor within the department.
