Sauer & Sohn, Kiel, Germany which manufactures & supplies High pressure air & gas piston compressors to the Defense, Shipping & Industry markets in India. The joint venture brings together ELGi s decades of experience in the Indian industrial and defense market and Sauer s experience as a Global leader in the manufacture of High-pressure compressors. Designation: Engineer / Senior Engineer Electrical Design; M1B band Reports to: Dy. Manager/Manager- Electrical Design Location: Coimbatore Education: B.E / B. Tech in Electrical & Electronics Engineering Experience: 3-7 Years Domain: Electrical Controls and machine operations (Motors, control panel, PLC programming & circuits etc.) Travel: 15-20 days in a year As Sr. Engineer-Electrical Design specialized in motors, electrical control systems, drives and automation for driving High Pressure Reciprocating Compressors, this position will be accountable for end-to-end electrical design & engineering activities of the high-pressure reciprocating compressors packages and other associated equipment for customized projects requirements. This position will involve in deciding motor sizing, control panel & switch gear design, PLM activities, technical documentation, testing, field support etc., Job Responsibilities & Deliverables Responsible for electrical design & engineering activities for driving the high-pressure reciprocating compressors and other associated equipment for customized projects requirements. Understanding project/customer requirements from applicable specifications and successfully carry out engineering/design work required and develop optimal electrical subsystems to meet the specification requirements in a cost-effective manner. Carry out selection/design of different electrical & controls equipment / components such as electrical motors, control panels (relay based, controllers, PLC+HMI based, etc.), junction boxes, Solenoid valves, switches, sensors, cables etc.) based on the project requirements to arrive at overall compressor package as per IEC, IS and Naval standards. Preparation of electrical circuit drawing, wiring drawing using AutoCAD, AutoCAD-Electrical or E-Plan software and electrical block diagrams, flow charts. Prepare 3D models and drawings for control panel enclosures and junction boxes using CAD. Perform necessary electrical design calculations to meet product, functional and project requirements. Carry out part creation, BOM creation as per the project requirements and release in ENOVIA PLM. Preparation of technical manual documentation for the electrical equipment in the compressor package. Interact with the Mechanical engineering department to ensure interfacing requirements are suitably met. As needed, carry out new product development activities comprising of concept creation, design of new components, sub-systems, and design validation to develop new products. Support Sales function on customer enquiries / tenders by providing engineering compliance against specification requirements and define scope of supply for costing. Guide production department on electrical aspects during new compressor packages assembly. Support QA department during inward of electrical equipment and internal testing of control panel and support Service department to resolve field complaints on electrical aspects. Collaborate effectively with cross functions such as Sales, Materials, Production and QA to deliver defect free engineering deliverables on time. Collaborate as necessary with Sauer, Germany for technical inputs & knowledge sharing. Make customer & supplier visits based on project requirements and resolve issues. Travel to the company s headquarters in Germany or other global locations for specialized training sessions related to reciprocating compressors. Communicate effectively with cross functional team to understand project requirements thoroughly and publish & maintain clear project plan including scope, schedule, deliverables for all projects. Carry out design validation of components and products as applicable. Technical Competencies Strong understanding of Electrical Engineering concepts with extensive hands-on experience in circuit design, testing and troubleshooting procedures. Proficiency in control panel operating logics, circuit reading, PLC ladder diagram and HMI screen design Proficiency in sizing motor starters such as star-delta, DOL, Soft starter, VFD, etc. Proficiency in sizing switch gear components in electrical control panels to operate motor or engine driven machinery (e.g. contactors, circuit breakers, relays, PLC, starters, controllers, etc.) Proficiency in cable sizing based on loads and application. Knowledge on EMI/EMC protection methods, Electrical equipment type testing procedures, Ingress protection methods for electrical enclosures Proficiency in CAD s/w for design & drafting (preferably AutoCAD & Solidworks).
