Drafter

As a Drafter at our company, your role will involve creating complex and sophisticated high-voltage substation, transmission, and steel design packages. You will collaborate with large engineering firms, utilizing both two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) engineering software to support internal project management efforts. Key Responsibilities: - Design in Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk AutoCAD to contribute to project sales revenue generated by engineering services. - Interpret customer drawings and professional engineer (PE) calculations to produce engineering output. - Generate detailed engineered drawings for customer approval and fabrication purposes using Autodesk software. - Develop general arrangement substation layouts in 2D and 3D using steel structures and corresponding major equipment and purchased parts. - Establish a 3D standard model library of major equipment and purchased parts for utilization in general arrangement layouts. - Adhere to engineering standards as directed by the Engineering Manager. - Verify customer bill of material against customer drawings for form, fit, function, and accuracy. - Size all mounting hardware and terminal connection hardware correctly based on customer drawings and bill of material cut sheets. - Estimate steel weights for quotes using customer drawings. - Engage in LEAN training and initiatives, as well as other continuous improvement teaming events. - Aid in creating and developing engineering standards. - Undertake any other assignments as required by management. Qualifications: - Associates Degree (U.S.)/College Diploma (Canada) required. - Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, civil/structural, or manufacturing engineering technology preferred. - Minimum 2 years of experience with Autodesk Inventor (2012 or newer) and Autodesk AutoCAD (2008 or newer). - 2 years of experience in Structural steel fabrication, industrial parts modeling, industrial construction, high voltage substation/transmission, and/or sheet metal manufacturing background preferred. - Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (3D) and Autodesk AutoCAD (2D). - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products and Microsoft Teams. - Intermediate to expert level proficiency in Microsoft Excel. - Ability to oversee processes to achieve objectives. - Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to provide creative solutions for excellent service. - Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to self-supervise. - Proficiency in Bim or Revit preferred. - Willingness to travel up to 25%.
