Job Summary The Laboratory Assistant will support the smooth functioning of the pharmacy laboratories by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, assisting faculty during practical sessions, and ensuring compliance with safety and academic standards. The role requires strong organizational skills and a solid understanding of pharmaceutical laboratory practices. Key Responsibilities Laboratory Preparation & Support Prepare chemicals, reagents, glassware, instruments, and materials required for practical classes. Assist faculty and students during laboratory sessions by providing technical support. Maintain proper labels, storage, and inventory of laboratory supplies. Equipment Maintenance Ensure all lab instruments and equipment are cleaned, calibrated, and in good working condition. Report and assist in repairs or servicing of faulty equipment. Laboratory Management Maintain cleanliness and safety in the laboratory at all times. Ensure proper disposal of chemicals and biological waste as per safety guidelines. Monitor stock levels and assist in procurement of laboratory items. Documentation & Compliance Maintain laboratory logbooks, issue records, and practical manuals. Ensure adherence to institutional and regulatory safety protocols (including PCI/AICTE guidelines). Assist in preparing laboratories for inspections, audits, and accreditation requirements. Student & Faculty Support Guide students on safe handling of chemicals and laboratory practices. Support faculty members in conducting experiments and practical examinations. Required Qualifications Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) – Mandatory Good understanding of pharmaceutical sciences and laboratory procedures. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience working in a pharmacy/chemical/medical laboratory or educational institution. Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and equipment handling. Skills & Competencies Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Basic analytical and technical skills relevant to pharmacy labs.
