DISTINGUISHED, SOFTWARE ENGINEER

**Role Overview:** As a Distinguished Software Engineer, your role will involve providing overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs, developing strategies to attract and maintain a skilled workforce, and fostering an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards. You will be responsible for driving technology leadership to solve business problems within the retail industry, supporting architectural designs, and contributing to the development of high-performing engineering teams. Your impact will be significant in designing platforms that power the growth of the target market to multi-billion dollars. **Key Responsibilities:** - Lead and inspire engineering teams in omni-channel retail to build reliable, secure, and performant platforms and frameworks. - Own the technical design and DevOps for a complex microservices ecosystem for a large-scale warehouse retail company. - Drive a culture of engineering excellence, execution, and scale mindset. - Develop partnerships with developers, partners, and architecture leaders to drive optimized product delivery. - Lead technical and strategic discussions involving multiple stakeholders. - Drive development and designs/solutions integrating varied technologies to meet business objectives. - Bring an industry perspective to shape and evolve the internal developer experience. - Drive Agile practices and continuous execution improvements within teams. - Assess and leverage technology from the Walmart ecosystem to build scalable solutions. - Solve problems with a high sense of urgency and extreme ownership. **Qualifications Required:** - 15+ years of engineering experience in large-scale product development with a focus on open stack and microservices. - Proficiency in Azure or GCP, retail domain, and digital transformation. - Experience in building distributed systems and products using hybrid cloud technology. - Strong technical background with hands-on capability. - Ability to set technical vision and provide mentorship. - Experience with performance tuning, optimization, and design patterns in cloud-native products. - Excellent interpersonal skills, negotiation capabilities, and experience working with globally distributed teams. - Proficiency in Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, microservices architecture, event-driven architectures, cloud platforms like Azure and GCP, and messaging queues like Kafka, RabbitMQ, Apache. **About the Company:** Walmart Global Tech is a team of software engineers, data scientists, cybersecurity experts, and service professionals within the world's leading retailer.
