Key Responsibilities

1. Electrical Design

  • Prepare load calculations, SLDs, cable sizing, lighting, earthing, and power distribution system design.
  • Develop technical drawings, specifications, and BOQs in accordance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate with architects and MEP teams for routing, equipment placement, and design interfaces.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (IEC, IS, NBC, NFPA, IEEE).

2. HVAC Design

  • Perform heat load calculations and prepare HVAC system designs (DX, VRF, Chilled Water, Ventilation).
  • Select equipment such as AHUs, FCUs, chillers, pumps, ducts, and diffusers.
  • Prepare duct layouts, piping layouts, and HVAC schematics.
  • Review shop drawings and ensure adherence to design guidelines and energy efficiency standards.

3. Fire Protection System (FPS) Design

  • Design fire sprinkler systems, hydrants, pump rooms, fire alarm layouts, gas suppression systems.
  • Conduct hydraulic calculations and prepare system layouts.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA, NBC, local fire norms, and safety requirements.

4. Coordination & Project Management

  • Attend project review meetings and coordinate with consultants, contractors, and clients.
  • Resolve site queries and provide timely technical support.
  • Verify material submittals and ensure compliance with design intent.
  • Review and approve shop drawings, method statements, and as-built documents.

5. Documentation & Quality

  • Prepare design reports, calculation summaries, and engineering documents.
  • Maintain project documentation as per company QA/QC standards.
  • Assist in preparing tender documents, specifications, and technical bid evaluations.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge in Electrical/HVAC/FPS design fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in design tools: AutoCAD, Revit, HAP/Trace, Dialux, ETAP (if electrical), Elite Fire, etc.
  • Understanding of international codes and standards.
  • Strong analytical, coordination, and communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in fast-track projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering (as applicable).
  • 3–7 years of relevant MEP design experience.
  • Experience in handling commercial, industrial, or residential projects.
