Role Overview

The Design Engineer will be responsible for preparing accurate and optimized solar PV system designs, layouts, and technical documentation. The role demands strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and hands-on experience with solar design tools. The engineer will collaborate with the sales, project, and installation teams to ensure technically sound and cost-effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Solar System Design & Engineering

• Develop solar PV system designs (Rooftop & Ground Mounted) using tools like AutoCAD, PVsyst, SketchUp, Helioscope, and related software.
  
• Create single-line diagrams (SLDs), array layouts, electrical schematics, and BOMs.
  
• Conduct shadow analysis, energy generation simulations, and performance estimation.
  
• Select appropriate components (modules, inverters, structures, cables, etc.) based on technical and commercial feasibility.
  

2. Technical Documentation

• Prepare detailed technical proposals, design reports, engineering calculations, and feasibility studies.
  
• Generate project-related documentation for regulatory submissions, DISCOM approvals, and tender compliance.
  

3. Coordination & Support

• Support the sales team with pre-sales technical inputs and customized design solutions.
  
• Work closely with project execution teams to ensure design intent is met during installation.
  
• Conduct site visits when required for surveys, assessments, and quality checks.
  

4. Compliance & Quality

• Ensure all designs meet applicable standards (IEC, MNRE, DISCOM guidelines).
  
• Maintain a strong focus on system safety, reliability, and performance optimization.
  
• Keep up-to-date with the latest industry technologies, components, and design best practices.
  

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
  
• 1–3 years of experience in solar PV system design (freshers with strong skills may also be considered).
  
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, and other solar design software.
  
• Strong understanding of solar electrical systems, load calculations, and structural considerations.
  
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.
  

Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have)

• Experience in rooftop C&I solar projects.
  
• Knowledge of Helioscope, SketchUp, and MS Office tools.
  
• Familiarity with EPC industry practices and solar project lifecycles.
