Role & responsibilities We are looking for a highly skilled Datacom Developer with expertise in Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking protocols, GPON , XGSPON , PON technologies, and strong programming experience in C . This role requires hands-on experience in managing and developing network solutions, working with complex networking protocols, and developing software solutions for networking devices, particularly in the broadband and telecommunications industry. Knowledge of Linux and OpenWrt as well as network management protocols like TR069 and SNMPv2 will be essential. As a Datacom Developer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing software solutions for networking hardware and systems, working in close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure network performance, scalability, and reliability. Layer 2/Layer 3 Networking : Develop and implement solutions for Ethernet , VLANs , L2 QoS , rate limiting, packet scheduling algorithms, IGMP snooping , Q-in-Q , VLAN manipulation , and PCP rewrite . Work with IPv4 , IPv6 , TCP/UDP , NAT , Firewall (iptables) , DHCPv4/v6 , Port forwarding , Source-based routing , and Policy-based routing . Design and implement L3 QoS , IGMP proxy , IPv6 MLD snooping , DNS , and DNS proxy configurations for network devices. Develop tools and systems for optimizing and troubleshooting Layer 2/Layer 3 network performance. PON Technologies : Work with GPON , XGSPON , and PON technologies to develop software solutions and optimize network operations. Implement and maintain OMCI (ONT Management and Control Interface) for Optical Network Terminal management. Troubleshoot and resolve issues in PON networks to ensure high performance and reliability. Network Management : Implement TR069 and SNMPv2 for network device management, performance monitoring, and automation. Develop scripts and tools to automate network configuration and monitoring tasks via CLI . Monitor and optimize the performance of network devices, troubleshoot issues, and perform root cause analysis. Programming and System Development : Utilize C programming to develop software for networking devices, including custom firmware development and optimization. Collaborate with hardware teams to integrate network features and solutions into embedded systems. Testing and Debugging : Perform in-depth testing of networking protocols, configurations, and software solutions to ensure functionality and performance. Use tools like Wireshark for packet analysis and debugging network-related issues. Collaboration and Documentation : Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deliver solutions that meet business requirements. Provide documentation for software solutions, network configurations, troubleshooting steps, and system optimizations. VoIP (Bonus Knowledge) : If applicable, work with VoIP protocols and configurations, ensuring optimal performance of voice traffic over IP networks. Preferred candidate profile Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience with Layer 2 (L2) and Layer 3 (L3) networking protocols, including Ethernet , VLANs , IPv4/IPv6 , NAT , TCP/UDP , DHCPv4/v6 , Port forwarding , and Policy-based routing . Hands-on experience with PON (Passive Optical Networks) technologies, including GPON , XGSPON , and OMCI . Expertise in network management using TR069 , SNMPv2 , and CLI-based configurations . Strong programming skills in C , especially for developing and optimizing networking software. Familiarity with Linux and OpenWrt operating systems. Strong knowledge of L2/L3 QoS , IGMP snooping , IPv6 MLD snooping , and DNS/DNS proxy configurations. Ability to troubleshoot and debug networking devices, protocols, and systems. Experience in performance testing and monitoring of network devices and protocols. Knowledge of VoIP and related protocols, with the ability to manage and optimize voice traffic over IP networks. Familiarity with wireless networks , SDN , or NFV (Network Function Virtualization) principles. Experience with multicast protocols like IGMP proxy and MLD snooping . Familiarity with IPv6 prefix delegation and advanced NAT concepts. Experience with performance analysis tools such as Wireshark or similar packet analyzers. Knowledge of cloud-based networking and distributed systems .
