Role & responsibilities We are seeking a skilled Manual L2 , L3 Tester with expertise in Layer 2 (L2) networking protocols and L3 and hands-on experience in manual testing of networking products. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of Ethernet, VLANs, STP, LACP, ARP, and other L2 technologies and be able to design and execute test cases for networking devices such as switches, routers, and embedded networking solutions. Key Responsibilities: Perform manual functional, regression, and system testing for L2 networking features. Develop detailed test plans, test cases, and test reports based on product requirements. Execute test cases in real-world network environments, analyze logs, and report defects. Work closely with development and QA teams to debug and validate fixes. Use traffic generators and packet analyzers (e.g., Wireshark, IXIA, Spirent) to test networking protocols. Perform negative, scalability, and performance testing for Layer 2, Layer 3 functionalities. Document test execution results and ensure compliance with networking standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve test coverage and automation feasibility. Required Skills & Qualifications: experience in manual testing of networking devices (switches, routers, embedded networking products). Strong knowledge of Layer 2 protocols such as: Ethernet VLAN (802.1Q) Spanning Tree Protocol (STP, RSTP, MSTP) Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) ARP, LLDP, IGMP Snooping Hands-on experience with CLI-based testing on networking devices. Experience using network testing tools like Wireshark, IXIA, or Spirent. Familiarity with networking standards and RFCs related to L2 protocols. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Good understanding of TCP/IP, IPv4, IPv6, and network topology. Preferred candidate profile Basic scripting knowledge (Python, TCL, or Shell) for test automation feasibility. Experience with network simulation tools like GNS3, EVE-NG. Knowledge of Layer 3 protocols (OSPF, BGP, VRRP) is a plus. Certification such as CCNA, CCNP is an advantage.
