Data Engineer, Customer Technology

As a Backend Software Engineer at Wayfair, you will be joining the Fulfillment Optimization team, responsible for building platforms that optimize customer order fulfillment for Wayfair profitability and customer satisfaction. Your role will involve enhancing and scaling customer-facing platforms that provide fulfillment information on the website, from search pages to order delivery. You will play a crucial role in maintaining an accurate representation of the dynamic supply chain, predicting product packaging, warehouse flow, and surfacing necessary information for customers, suppliers, and carriers in milliseconds. **Key Responsibilities:** - Build and launch data pipelines and products focused on SMART Org. - Collaborate with teams to create new product features using data and support machine learning models. - Establish cross-functional relationships to understand data needs and standardize key metrics across the organization. - Utilize cutting-edge technologies in software engineering, big data, streaming, and cloud infrastructure. **Qualifications Required:** - Bachelor/Master degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent experience. - 3+ years of work experience in Data Engineering with web-scale data sets. - Proficiency in data modeling, ETL development, and data lake architecture. - Experience with Big Data Technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Presto, Airflow. - Coding skills in modern programming languages like Python or Scala. - Industry experience as a Big Data Engineer working with cross-functional teams. - Strong business acumen and experience with large-scale data warehousing projects using GCP technologies. - Ability to communicate technical information effectively at all levels of the organization. - Good to have: Understanding of NoSQL databases and exposure to Pub-Sub architecture. - Familiarity with BI tools like Looker, Tableau, AtScale, PowerBI, or similar.
