Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Design/Head of Design to lead and manage the design and development of our power and distribution transformer product lines. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a strong background in transformer design standards, simulations, and production support. This role is critical in driving product innovation, ensuring compliance with international standards, and aligning design goals with business objectives. Key Responsibilities: Lead and oversee the complete transformer design process – from concept to final engineering release. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of design engineers. Ensure designs meet performance, safety, reliability, and cost targets in accordance with national and international standards (e.g., IEC, ANSI, BIS). Approve technical drawings, bill of materials (BOMs), and design documentation. Collaborate with production, quality, R&D, and sales teams to ensure design feasibility, manufacturability, and customer requirements. Introduce and maintain simulation tools (Magnetics, Thermal, Electrical, Mechanical). Drive continuous improvement and innovation in transformer design, materials selection, and processes. Coordinate with testing and quality assurance teams to resolve design-related issues. Stay updated with new technologies, materials, and trends in the power sector and implement best practices. Manage design budgets, timelines, and resource planning. **Non transformer industry experince candidates will not be enetertained ** Required Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Minimum of 15 years of hands-on experience in designing power and distribution transformers (up to 132 kV or higher). Strong knowledge of core design, magnetic analysis, insulation coordination, short-circuit forces, and thermal behavior. Proficient in using design software such as AutoCAD, ELCAD, FEMM, Maxwell, ANSYS, or similar tools. In-depth understanding of international transformer standards (IEC, ANSI, IS, etc.). Experience in leading and managing a team of engineers.
