Role & responsibilities Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Manager to oversee all aspects of quality control and assurance in our copper casting operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing quality systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and leading continuous improvement initiatives to maintain high product quality and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities: • Quality Systems Management: •Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 ,14001, 45001 or other applicable standards(BIS, 5s,8D). •Ensure proper documentation, traceability, and control of quality records. • Production & Process Oversight: •Monitor and evaluate production processes related to copper melting, casting, and finishing to ensure quality standards are met. •Work closely with production teams to identify and address process deviations and non-conformities. • Inspection and Testing: •Supervise and lead quality inspection activities, including raw material testing, in-process checks, and final product inspection. •Ensure use of proper tools, gauges, and test equipment along with maintenance of said tools (e.g., spectrometers). • Defect Analysis and Root Cause Investigation: •Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for product defects or process failures using tools like 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, FMEA, etc. •Implement and verify corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). • Customer & Supplier Quality: •Manage customer complaints and coordinate responses with technical and production teams. •Conduct audits of suppliers to ensure incoming material quality. • Team Leadership: •Lead, train, and mentor quality technicians and inspectors. •Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement across all departments. • Regulatory and Environmental Compliance: •Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations relevant to foundry operations. •Support audits and regulatory inspections as needed. Qualifications: •Minimum 57 years of experience in quality management, preferably in metal casting or foundry industries. •Strong knowledge of copper metallurgy, casting defects, and metallurgical testing methods. •Familiarity with ISO 9001,14001,45001 and other relevant quality certifications(BIS). •Proficient in quality tools (SPC, MSA, FMEA, Control Plans). •Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. •Experience with ERP and QMS software preferred. Preferred Skills: •Six Sigma Green/Black Belt Certification. •Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles. •Familiarity with IATF 16949 (if applicable to automotive customers). •Hands-on experience with spectroscopic analysis and microstructure evaluation. The role involves ensuring efficient production, meeting quality standards, maintaining safety norms, and optimising resource utilisation while delivering cost-effective and timely outputs. Key Responsibilities: 1. Operations Management: Lead and manage end-to-end plant operations including melting, casting, machining, finishing, and dispatch. Oversee day-to-day production activities to ensure adherence to production targets and schedules. Monitor key metrics like yield, efficiency, downtime, scrap rate, and cycle time. Implement continuous improvement programs (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) to enhance productivity. 2. Production Planning & Control: forecasts. Coordinate with sales, procurement, and planning teams to align production with demand Ensure optimal utilization of machinery, labor, and materials. Maintain and review production schedules, raw material requirements, and inventory levels. 3. Quality Assurance: Ensure strict adherence to quality standards for copper casting and downstream processes. Work with the QA/QC team to reduce rework, rejection, and customer complaints. Analyze process failures and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions. 4. Maintenance & Asset Management: Coordinate preventive and predictive maintenance of equipment to minimize breakdowns. Plan capex/opex for equipment upgrades or plant expansion.•Ensure proper calibration and upkeep of instruments and production machinery. 5. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE): Enforce compliance with environmental, safety, and statutory regulations. Promote a safety-first culture among the workforce. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments. 6. Team Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor a team of production engineers, supervisors, technicians, and operators. Identify skill gaps and organize training programs for team development. Foster a high-performance work culture. 7. Hands-on experience in managing a non-ferrous metal plant, especially copper casting•Exposure to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 standards.
