Production Manager

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Control

•Develop and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on customer orders and plant capacity.

•Monitor melt shop , casting line operations and machinery productions (furnaces, molds, continuous casting machines, rolling equipment).

•Ensure optimal utilization of raw materials, equipment, and manpower.

•Maintain production records, KPIs, and reports (yield, scrap rate, downtime, energy use).

2. Operational Management

•Supervise furnace operations: charging, melting, refining, slag removal, alloying additions.

•Oversee casting parameters: temperature control, casting speeds, mold setup, cooling systems.

•Ensure adherence to SOPs, specifications, and operational standards.

•Troubleshoot production issues (metallurgical defects, equipment failures, casting irregularities).

•Supervise and manage anode production keeping in view the production targets and machinery downtime.

3. Quality Assurance

•Work closely with QA/QC teams to ensure product meets metallurgical and dimensional specifications.

•Implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce defects such as porosity, segregation, cracks, inclusions, or surface issues.

•Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing or Six Sigma tools.

4. Safety & Environmental Compliance

•Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols related to furnace operation, and heavy equipment and machinery.

•Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.

•Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding emissions, waste, and energy usage.

5. Team Leadership & Development

•Lead, mentor, and develop shift supervisors, operators, furnace crew, and casting technicians.

•Manage shift schedules, training, and performance evaluations.

•Promote accountability, teamwork, and a culture of safety and excellence.

6. Equipment & Maintenance Coordination

•Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure proper functioning of furnaces , machinery, ladles, casting machines, cranes, water-cooling systems, and auxiliary equipment.

•Plan preventive maintenance and manage downtime effectively.

•Recommend capital improvements and technology upgrades.

7. Cost and Efficiency Management

•Monitor and control production costs (energy, raw materials, consumables, labor).

•Optimize yields and reduce scrap and rework.

•Contribute to annual budgeting and cost reduction initiatives.
