Core Testing Technician

Job Profile - Core Testing

Salary - up to 22k

Experience - 1+ year

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct magnetic tests on transformer cores (open-circuit test, short-circuit test, and loss measurement).
• Perform no-load loss (core loss) and excitation current tests.
• Check magnetic flux distribution and verify core performance.
• Ensure insulation resistance and other electrical parameters are within specified limits.
• Record, analyze, and report test results against quality standards.
• Troubleshoot and identify defects in core assembly or lamination material.
• Operate and maintain testing instruments like power analyzers, voltmeters, ammeters, and flux meters.
• Coordinate with design and production teams to resolve technical issues.
• Follow safety protocols while handling high-voltage testing equipment.
• Prepare test documentation and quality reports for customer and internal audits.

Skills Required:

• Knowledge of transformer core design and testing standards (IS, IEC, ASTM).
• Hands-on experience with electrical measuring instruments.
• Understanding of core materials (CRGO, amorphous steel, laminations).
• Ability to interpret test parameters and tolerances.
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Basic knowledge of MS Excel / ERP systems for data entry and reporting.
• Awareness of safety regulations in electrical testing.

Qualification:

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• ITI (Electrician / Electrical Testing) with experience can also be considered.
