As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Trane TechnologiesTM, you will play a crucial role in executing critical product design improvement projects. Your responsibilities will include supporting a variety of product development projects by utilizing engineering principles to develop solutions that meet product requirements, cost, quality, and schedule. You will collaborate with cross-functional project teams to identify root causes of failure, develop solutions, oversee validation activities, and assist team members in implementing solutions during production. Your main responsibilities will involve designing and developing Electrical/Electronic solutions for HVAC & Transport Refrigeration systems in collaboration with internal Subject Matter Experts (SME) and external experts. You will optimize the design of power electronic components, motors, sensors, and other electrical components to enhance reliability, durability, performance, safety, and cost-efficiency. Additionally, you will conduct systematic problem-solving to investigate product Quality and Reliability issues, propose design change recommendations, and lead design reviews and validation activities. You will be expected to write technical requirements, specifications, and reports, as well as present your findings in various settings. Furthermore, you will generate, evaluate, and analyze design concepts and assemblies to meet product requirements, lead design failure mode and effects analysis (DFMEA), and develop design validation plans. Your role will also involve collaborating with Controls & Software Development groups to develop software and Controls Algorithms for different product units, as well as managing supplier partnerships to deliver solutions effectively. In terms of essential skills, you should have experience in designing and developing Power electronics components such as converters, inverters, and battery chargers. Knowledge of power electronic modules, component qualification programs, and new product development in automotive/ machinery environments will be advantageous. Experience in developing electrical components like Temperature Sensors, Actuators, Motors, and knowledge of Analog circuits and Controller hardware is desirable. Additionally, familiarity with embedded microprocessor control systems, control systems, and software testing will be beneficial. To qualify for this role, you should hold a Masters or bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and possess approximately 4 - 7 years of experience in Electrical Product design within the industrial or automotive industry. Onsite experience in the US or EU is preferred, and the position is based in Bangalore. Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and creativity are essential for success in this role.
