Job Description: As a Chemist in the Civil Materials Testing Laboratory located in Mumbai (Wadala), you will be pivotal in ensuring the quality and reliability of construction materials essential for major infrastructure projects. Your primary responsibility will involve conducting an array of chemical tests on materials including concrete, steel, water, aggregate, cement, and other building components. The outcomes of your tests will significantly impact the safety, durability, and overall quality of the structures under construction. Key Responsibilities: - Conduct chemical tests on various construction materials in adherence to relevant standards and specifications. - Precisely analyze and interpret test results while maintaining meticulous records of all tests performed. - Uphold quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test outcomes. - Collaborate with engineers and team members to troubleshoot issues and resolve discrepancies in test results. - Regularly calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to guarantee precise and consistent test measurements. - Stay informed about industry advancements, standards, and best practices related to materials testing. - Engage in proficiency testing programs and inter-laboratory comparisons to validate the accuracy of testing procedures. - Assist in devising and implementing new testing methods to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Requirements: - Possess a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry; Master's degree is preferred. - Previous experience in a materials testing laboratory, ideally in a civil engineering or construction-related field. - Extensive knowledge of chemical testing methods for concrete, steel, water, aggregate, cement, and other building materials. - Familiarity with relevant standards and specifications such as ASTM, IS, and BS. - Proficient in laboratory techniques, equipment operation, and data analysis. - Strong attention to detail and analytical skills. - Excellent communication and teamwork aptitude. - Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. - Knowledge of safety protocols in a laboratory setting.
