The Converged Packet Optical R&D hardware team is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative PCB layout designer to develop high-speed, high complexity, multilayer circuit packs for communication products. In this role, you will use the Cadence Allegro layout toolset to extract the netlist from schematic capture, perform printed circuit board artwork design, and deliver a complete design package for fabrication. You will work under supervision to ensure the completion of a PCB documentation package meeting quality system requirements. Your responsibilities will include component placement to meet electrical, mechanical, and thermal constraints, developing a detailed routing strategy, and performing PCB routing to meet electrical specifications. Additionally, you will participate in design reviews and collaborate with various teams to resolve issues and ensure compliance with Design For Manufacturability requirements. Ciena expects you to demonstrate a sense of urgency, prioritizing customer needs, integrity in personal and professional conduct, a commitment to innovation by staying abreast of new technologies and market conditions, adaptability to change, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will be a college graduate with an Electrical/Electronic Technology Diploma or Associate CAD Diploma and possess 5+ years of PCB Layout experience with CAD/CAM tools. Familiarity with Cadence Allegro and other Cad tools, knowledge of constraint manager, manual routing, controlled auto-routing, and strong expertise in high-speed routing methodologies, single-ended & differential controlled impedance design, power/ground planes, terminations, Via technologies, board materials and stack-ups, safety isolation requirements, EMC/EMI considerations, manufacturability constraints, and manufacturing test requirements are essential. Moreover, understanding of the PCB design process, asset familiarity with high-speed hardware design and photonic interfaces, and knowledge of the PCB manufacturing and assembly process are beneficial.
