Estimate Division 26 (Electrical) scopes for a systems integration contractor, partnering closely with low-voltage and security estimators across Div. 27 (Communications) and Div. 28 (Electronic Safety & Security) . Produce accurate takeoffs, pricing, and proposal deliverables from concept through GMP/bid, and drive a clean turnover to preconstruction and operations. Responsibilities Estimating (Primary: Division 26) Develop conceptual, schematic, DD, CD, and GMP/bid estimates for: Normal and emergency power distribution (service, switchgear/switchboards, panelboards, PDUs, ATS, UPS interfaces) Feeders/branch, grounding/bonding, raceway/conduit/cable tray, boxes and devices Lighting and lighting controls Equipment connections and temporary power Build detailed quantity takeoffs , labor units, and production rates; apply crew mix, shift factors, congestion, and logistics. Price indirects, general conditions, OH&P, escalation , and risk/contingency ; maintain a clear Basis of Estimate (assumptions/exclusions). Level vendor/sub quotes; assemble bid tabs; identify scope gaps and alternates/VE options with cost and schedule impacts. Cross-Discipline Collaboration (Div. 27 & 28) Coordinate with structured cabling and security estimators to align power, pathways, spaces, and device backboxes ; prevent overlaps/holes at interfaces (e.g., PoE vs. line-voltage, telecom room power and HVAC, fire alarm power). Maintain a scope matrix across 26/27/28 to clarify responsibilities (who owns cabling, terminations, programming, commissioning, as-builts). Participate in design reviews and RFIs regarding telecom rooms/IDFs/MDFs, PoE power budgets, raceway coordination, and life-safety power interfaces. Preconstruction & Pursuit Support Lead estimate reviews with Precon/Operations; prepare buy-out strategy, vendor lists, long-lead trackers (gear, lighting controls), and early procurement recommendations. Support proposal narratives, alternates, and value engineering aimed at lifecycle cost, energy efficiency, and maintainability. Standards, Compliance & Risk Interpret drawings/specs (Div. 00–28) and addenda; ensure compliance with industry standards, BICSI best practices. Maintain market intel for labor rates , and escalation ; perform sensitivity analyses. Process & Data Use company templates/QA checklists; contribute to cost history database and unit-price libraries for Div. 26 assemblies. Provide mentorship to junior estimators on takeoff methods, WBS/CSI coding, and estimate hygiene. Required Qualifications 5–8+ years electrical estimating experience focused on Division 26 in commercial, healthcare, higher-ed, industrial, transportation, or mission-critical environments. Proven track record estimating electrical packages from $1M–$25M+ . Expertise reading one-lines, risers, panel schedules, lighting/control submittals, and telecom/security power interfaces. Familiarity with delivery methods (DBB, DB, CMAR) and subcontracting strategies. Preferred Skills & Tools Estimating: Trimble Accubid/Enterprise , ConEst/IntelliBid , or equivalent; advanced Excel (Power Query/Pivot). Takeoff/Review: Bluebeam Revu , PlanSwift/eTakeoff ; model/coordination review in Navisworks/Revit (review level). Construction platforms: Procore , Autodesk Build/PlanGrid ; scheduling awareness ( MS Project or P6 , review level). Awareness of low-voltage and security ecosystems for interface coordination (e.g., LenelS2, Genetec, Milestone , telecom rack/UPS power). Certifications (nice to have) ASPE/CEP or AACE estimating credential; NICET (Fire Alarm LII+ exposure helpful), BICSI (TECH or RCDD awareness), LEED GA ; Journeyman/Wireman background a plus. Core Competencies Division 26 technical depth & integration mindset Scope matrixing with 27/28; gap/overlap prevention Cost modeling, risk/contingency logic, and price-to-win awareness Vendor/subcontractor outreach and bid leveling Clear written BOEs and persuasive proposal input Collaboration, ownership, and deadline discipline Key Deliverables Basis of Estimate with assumptions/exclusions Detailed takeoffs & labor build-ups (Div. 26 assemblies) Vendor/sub bid tabs and scope leveling sheets Alternates/VE with savings and impacts Precon turnover package (buy-out plan, long-lead log, risk register) Education Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline; equivalent field/estimating experience considered.
