Position: Lead Instrumentation Engineer Work Location: Bangalore, India Education: B.E / B.Tech Experience: 10-15 Years of Experience Roles & Responsibilities: Lead instrumentation engineering activities across all project phases FEED, basic design, detailed engineering, and commissioning support. 1015 years of experience in instrumentation engineering, with at least 35 years in a lead role. Familiarity with international standards (ISA, IEC, ANSI, ATEX, SIL, API). Experience with instrumentation engineering tools/software (SPI/INtools, SmartPlant, AutoCAD, Aveva, etc.). Hands-on experience with control systems (DCS/PLC/SCADA/ESD/F&G). Excellent leadership, communication, and client-facing skills. Ability to manage multiple projects (small task-based and large-scale) simultaneously. Coordinate with Process, Electrical, Piping, Mechanical, and Civil/Structural disciplines for interface requirements. Review vendor drawings, datasheets, and technical documents, ensuring compliance with project needs. Mentor and guide a team of instrumentation engineers and designers. Role Summary: We are looking for a Senior Instrumentation Design Engineer to lead and execute instrumentation engineering activities for EPC and engineering consultancy projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing instrumentation systems, preparing detailed engineering deliverables, and coordinating with cross-disciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities: Develop and review Instrumentation Design Basis, I/O list, Instrument Index, Cable Schedules, and Loop Diagrams. Prepare specifications and datasheets for field instruments, control valves, and packages. Design and layout instrumentation and control systems (including hook-up drawings, JB schedules, layouts, etc.). Conduct vendor technical bid evaluations and support procurement activities. Review vendor documents and coordinate with vendors for technical alignment. Work closely with other disciplines (Piping, Electrical, Process) to ensure design consistency. Ensure compliance with international codes and standards Provide support during construction, commissioning, and FAT/SAT stages. Lead a team of junior engineers and drafters, providing guidance and quality checks. Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Instrumentation / Electronics / Control Engineering. 8+ years of relevant experience in instrumentation design for EPC or consultancy projects. Proficiency in tools like SPI (INtools), AutoCAD, Navisworks, etc. Strong understanding of hazardous area classification, loop checking, and control system integration. You will be responsible for preparing Loop Diagrams, Overall System Interconnection Diagrams, Junction Box Wiring Diagrams, MCT Arrangement Drawings, and Instrument Junction Box Layouts using SPI (INtools), Aveva Instrumentation, and AutoCAD software. Additionally, you will be involved in the preparation of instrument and JB schedules, Cable schedules, Cable Tray Tube Tray Layouts, and layouts for Fire Gas, ESD, FSD, and Fusible Plug. You will also work on Instrument Installation Hook-up Diagrams and Bulk Material Take-Off. Collaboration with Engineers and Designers from various disciplines will be essential to ensure timely submission of deliverables with high accuracy. The ideal candidate should have a Diploma/Degree in Instrumentation/Electrical with at least 5 years of relevant experience in the offshore Oil Gas industry, particularly in Instrumentation design.
