Audio R&D Machine Learning Engineer

Qualcomm India Private Limited is seeking a passionate research engineer to join the Advanced Tech R&D team. In this role, you will focus on applying machine learning to generative audio, video, and natural language use cases. Your responsibilities will include developing innovative machine learning algorithms for audio and speech generative models, filing corresponding papers and patent disclosures, achieving state-of-the-art performance in various audio/NLP applications, and combining features from multi-modalities such as video, audio, sensors, and location. Additionally, you will collaborate with a team of machine learning experts to develop technology solutions for mobile phones, headsets, IoT devices, and cloud outlets. You will work on porting newly designed solutions to real live prototypes, showcasing them at tradeshows and customer events, and supporting commercialization activities in upcoming products. The ideal candidate will have experience in R&D of audio and speech generative networks, audio/speech synthesis, speech restoration, and text-to-speech models. You should be familiar with recent trends in machine learning and traditional statistical modeling/feature extraction techniques. Preferred qualifications include proficiency in designing, implementing, and training deep learning algorithms in high-level languages/frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow. You should be willing to engage in hands-on R&D in modeling audio/speech/text data and excel at working in cross-disciplinary, geographically dispersed teams. Education requirements for this role include a preferred Master's or Doctorate degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering, along with 2+ years of R&D experience in Computer Vision, image processing, NLP, or multimodal applications in academic or industry settings. Alternatively, applicants with a Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience, a Master's degree and 2+ years of experience, or a Ph.D. and 1+ year of experience will also be considered.
