This position is ideal for someone with a basic understanding of how a publishing department functions and who is looking to develop their skills in managing workflows, collaborating with different teams, and managing production and distribution of print and digital content. Key Responsibilities: 1. Administrative Support: · Organize and maintain department files, databases, and records. · Communicate with authors, editors, freelancers, and external stakeholders to ensure timely submissions and feedback. · Prepare contracts and other documentation as required. · Maintain databases and update content-related metadata (e.g., ISBNs, publication dates). · Provide administrative assistance to the publishing team, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and preparing reports. 2. Project Coordination: · Assist in coordinating the production schedules for print and digital publications, ensuring deadlines are met. · Track the progress of manuscripts through various stages: acquisition, editing, design, production, and distribution. · Work with internal teams (designers, editors, marketing) to ensure smooth workflow. 3. Content and Production Support: · Assist in the preparation of editorial content for publication by organizing drafts, tracking revisions, and communicating with authors or freelancers. · Coordinate with the production team to manage the printing process, ensuring quality control and timeline adherence. · Assist in proofreading, copyediting, and fact-checking materials when necessary. 4. Digital Publishing and Distribution: · Support the digital publishing process by coordinating content uploads and ensuring that digital versions of publications are available on time. Skills and Qualifications: Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in English, Publishing, Communication, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience in publishing. Knowledge: Basic understanding of the publishing process, including editorial workflows, production, and distribution of both print and digital content. Technical Skills: Familiarity with publishing tools and software (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Office, content management systems) is a plus. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Organization: Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail, especially when proofreading and coordinating production timelines. Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with various teams and external partners.
