Assistant Mechanical Engineer

As a HVAC Design Engineer at Mott MacDonald, you will be responsible for designing HVAC systems for commercial, residential, and industrial projects in the UK or Europe regions. Your role will involve collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with regional standards, and contributing to design reviews and value engineering exercises. Key Responsibilities: - Design and develop HVAC systems, including load calculations, ductwork and piping layouts, and equipment selection. - Perform thermal load calculations using software such as HAP or IES VE. - Prepare design markups for the BIM team and equipment schedules. - Create detailed HVAC design drawings using AutoCAD and Revit MEP. - Coordinate with architects, structural, and electrical engineers for project integration. - Conduct clash detection and coordination using Navisworks. - Ensure compliance with UK (CIBSE, BSRIA) and Middle East (ASHRAE, local authority) standards and regulations. Required Skills and Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. - 4+ years of relevant HVAC design experience, with a strong understanding of HVAC design principles and equipment. - Proficiency in HAP, IES VE, AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks, and other HVAC design tools. - Familiarity with UK and Middle East building codes and HVAC standards. - Excellent communication and documentation skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications: - Professional certifications such as LEED, CIBSE membership, or ASHRAE. - Experience with sustainable and energy-efficient HVAC design. - Exposure to BIM workflows and coordination.
