As a HVAC Design Engineer at Mott MacDonald, you will play a key role in designing HVAC systems for various commercial, residential, and industrial projects in the UK and Middle East regions. Your responsibilities will include: - Designing and developing HVAC systems, which involves tasks such as load calculations, ductwork and piping layouts, and equipment selection. - Conducting thermal load calculations using software like HAP or IES VE. - Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordination with architects, structural engineers, and electrical engineers. - Ensuring compliance with UK (CIBSE, BSRIA) and Middle East (ASHRAE, local authority) standards and regulations. - Participating in design reviews and value engineering exercises. To excel in this role, you should have the following qualifications and skills: - A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. - 4-8 years of relevant experience in HVAC design. - Proficiency in industry-standard software tools such as HAP, IES VE, AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Navisworks. - Strong knowledge of HVAC design principles, equipment, and systems. - Excellent communication and documentation skills. - Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Preferred qualifications include: - Professional certifications like LEED, CIBSE membership, or ASHRAE. - Experience with sustainable and energy-efficient HVAC design. - Exposure to BIM workflows and coordination.
