Job Description

Essential Functions:
  • Check and maintain fire extinguishers, fire hydrant systems, smoke detectors, and fire alarm systems as per EHS SOPs.
  • Conduct training and demonstrations on fire hydrant system operation and fire extinguisher use for site personnel.
  • Identify and report any unsafe actions, unsafe conditions, or abnormalities to the EHS superior immediately.
  • Inspect safety showers, eye wash stations, and airline respirator systems for functionality and compliance.
  • Inspect SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus) sets and other life safety equipment (safety belts, ropes, etc.) regularly.
  • Coordinate with third-party service providers for the maintenance and servicing of fire hydrant pumps, extinguishers, and associated equipment.
  • Maintain updated logbooks, checklists, and records of inspections, services, and inventories as per EHS SOP formats.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels for spare parts and consumables related to firefighting and safety systems.
  • Support the EHS team in carrying out preventive and corrective actions to avoid incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions.
  • Carry out other safety-related tasks as assigned by the EHS Head / HOD from time to time.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Participate in site-level safety drills, mock drills, and fire drills to ensure preparedness.
  • Assist in vendor coordination and scheduling of preventive maintenance activities.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing records related to firefighting and safety equipment.
  • Participate in toolbox talks and awareness sessions conducted by the EHS team.
  • Assist in training programs to improve knowledge of fire and safety systems.
Skills:
  • Fire Safety Equipment Operation & Maintenance – Intermediate
  • Inspection & Recordkeeping of Fire Hydrant, Alarm, and SCBA Systems – Intermediate
  • Basic Hazard Identification & Unsafe Condition Reporting – Intermediate
  • Safety Documentation & Data Integrity – Intermediate
  • Coordination with Vendors for Preventive Maintenance – Basic
  • Training & Demonstrations on Fire Safety – Basic to Intermediate
  • Mock Drills & Emergency Preparedness Participation – Basic
  • Inventory Management of Safety Equipment & Spares – Basic
  • Knowledge of EHS SOPs and Regulatory Standards – Basic
  • Teamwork and Cross-functional Communication – Basic

Qualifications:
Education:
  • ITI, Diploma, or B.Sc. – Science Graduate – Required
Experience:
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in EHS / Safety, preferably in the Chemical or Pharmaceutical industry
