Area Sales Manager – Chennai

Key Responsibilities

• Revenue & Sales Target Achievement:

  Own and achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual primary and secondary sales targets across Ceiling Fans, Geysers, and Home Appliances in Chennai and adjacent suburban clusters.

• Distributor Network Expansion:

  Actively identify, evaluate, and appoint new, creditworthy stockists and distributors to plug coverage gaps and strengthen wholesale distribution.

• Secondary Sales & Retail Extraction:

  Drive counter share and visibility in major electrical retail counters, modern trade outlets, and wholesale hubs (e.g., Sowcarpet, Ritchie Street, Guindy, suburban markets).

• Channel Partner Relationship Management:

  Track distributor stock turnover, streamline order replenishment, resolve billing or claims queries promptly, and ensure healthy distributor ROI.

• Frontline Team Supervision:

  Lead, mentor, and monitor daily route plans (beat plans), counter calls, and target achievement of Territory Sales Officers (TSOs) and Field Sales Executives.

• Market Intelligence & Trade Schemes:

  Track competitor pricing, new product rollouts, and trade schemes from competitor brands; implement localized counter-promotions and display drives.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications

• Experience:

  10 to 12 years of hands-on channel sales experience handling the Chennai trade market.

• Industry Background:

  Core background in

  Ceiling Fans, Geysers, and Home Appliances

  is mandatory.

• Preferred Companies:

  Current or previous experience at leading brands such as

  Havells, Atomberg, Crompton, Polycab, Orient Electric, V-Guard, USHA, Bajaj Electricals

  , or direct industry peers.

Core Competencies:

• Proven capability in distributor network onboarding, dealer network expansion, and market mapping.
• In-depth knowledge of Chennai’s key electrical retail pockets, dealer dynamics, and wholesale channels.
• Fluency in Tamil and English (working proficiency in Hindi is an advantage).
• Strong commercial discipline, pipeline management, and team leadership skills.
