Test design Writing test plans, test cases and test scenarios from requirements; boundary value analysis, equivalence partitioning, decision tables; traceability back to acceptance criteria
Manual testing Functional, regression, smoke, sanity, integration, exploratory and UAT support; building and maintaining a regression suite
Defect management Clear, reproducible bug reports with steps, expected vs actual, logs, screenshots and video; correct severity vs priority; bug lifecycle and retesting discipline
Test management tools Jira plus TestRail, Xray or Zephyr - suite organisation, run tracking, coverage and defect reporting
Web automation Playwright or Cypress (Selenium acceptable) - page object model, stable selectors, waits and retries, parallel execution, controlling test flakiness
Programming for tests JavaScript / TypeScript to write and maintain automation scripts independently; reads application code well enough to understand what changed
API testing Postman and Newman - collections, environments, assertions, auth flows, chained requests; validating status codes, schemas and error contracts
Mobile testing Testing React Native builds on real iOS and Android devices - installing TestFlight and Play internal-track builds, permissions, offline behaviour, background/foreground states, push notifications, multiple OS versions and screen sizes
Cross-browser & device Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge; responsive breakpoints; Browser Stack, Lambda Test or a physical device matrix
SQL for testing Writing queries to verify data, set up test data and validate back-end state after a UI action
CI integration Running automated suites inside Jenkins or GitHub Actions, reading pipeline reports, quarantining flaky tests, gating a release on test results
Release verification Environment-specific smoke testing, release sign-off checklist, production verification after deployment, rollback recommendation
Security testing basics OWASP Top 10 test cases - auth bypass, IDOR, input validation, session handling; awareness of OWASP ZAP
AI-assisted testing Using Cursor / Claude Code to generate test cases, automation scripts and test data - with review of what is produced
