Key Responsibilities 1. Planning & Design Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed engineering designs for civil structures (roads, buildings, bridges, water systems, etc.). Conduct feasibility studies, budget estimation, and risk assessments. Prepare engineering drawings, technical specifications, BOQs, and project documentation. Use design software such as AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, ETABS, Civil 3D, or equivalent. 2. Site Management & Execution Supervise construction activities to ensure compliance with design, specifications, and safety requirements. Monitor contractor performance, materials usage, and work progress. Coordinate workforce, subcontractors, equipment, and materials. Maintain daily progress reports and documentation. 3. Quality Assurance & Compliance Ensure execution meets relevant codes, safety regulations, IS standards, or contract requirements. Conduct quality control tests on materials (concrete, soil, steel, etc.). Review and approve method statements, shop drawings, and technical submissions. 4. Cost & Resource Management Prepare project costing, estimation, and budgeting. Track resource utilization to minimize waste and optimize productivity. Verify contractor bills, measurements, and BOQs. 5. Surveying & Data Analysis Perform site surveys, geotechnical investigations, and level measurements. Analyze survey reports, maps, and geographic data for planning and execution. 6. Coordination & Communication Liaise with architects, contractors, government authorities, vendors, and clients. Participate in project meetings and provide engineering support and updates. Resolve technical issues and ensure uninterrupted work execution. 7. Safety & Risk Management Monitor site safety compliance as per standard safety protocols. Identify potential hazards and ensure corrective action is implemented. 8. Project Closeout & Maintenance Conduct final inspections, testing, and commissioning of project works. Prepare as-built drawings, operation manuals, and handover documentation. Provide guidance for repair, rehabilitation, and maintenance activities. Professional Skills Required Strong knowledge of civil engineering materials and construction methodologies. Proficiency in engineering software and project management tools. Effective problem-solving, analytical thinking, communication, and leadership. Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under deadlines.
