Role Overview We’re looking for an experienced Visual C++ developer with strong MFC skills who can also work across the C#/.NET boundary. You’ll maintain and extend large Windows desktop applications, build interop layers between native C++ and managed .NET code, and help modernize legacy codebases without disrupting the clients who rely on them.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Windows desktop applications using Visual C++ and MFC (document/view architecture, dialogs, custom controls, GDI/GDI+).
- Build and maintain C#/.NET extensions, components, and services that integrate with native C++ applications.
- Implement interoperability between native and managed code using C++/CLI, P/Invoke, and COM.
- Debug, profile, and fix complex issues including memory leaks, threading bugs, and crashes, using tools like WinDbg, Visual Studio diagnostics, and crash dump analysis.
- Refactor and modernize legacy code toward modern C++ (C++11/14/17), improving maintainability and performance.
- Plan and execute incremental migration of MFC components to .NET (WinForms/WPF) where appropriate.
- Write clean, well-documented, testable code and participate in code reviews.
- Work with QA, product, and client teams to gather requirements, estimate work, and deliver on schedule.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in Visual C++ development on Windows.
- Strong hands-on experience with MFC application development.
- Solid working knowledge of C# and the .NET Framework / .NET (6+).
- Experience with C++/CLI, COM/ActiveX, and P/Invoke for native–managed interop.
- Good understanding of the Win32 API, Windows messaging, multithreading, and memory management.
- Proficiency with Visual Studio, debugging tools, and version control (Git/TFS/Azure DevOps).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate large, legacy codebases.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with WPF or WinForms.
- Familiarity with STL, Boost, and modern C++ features.
- Knowledge of SQL Server, ODBC/ADO, or other database access from C++ and .NET.
- Exposure to installers (WiX, InstallShield) and Windows deployment.
- Experience with unit testing frameworks (Google Test, MSTest, NUnit).
- Background in BFSI or other regulated enterprise domains.
- Interest in integrating AI capabilities into desktop applications.
