Design Engineer For more than 95 years, VetterTec, headquartered in Kassel, Germany, has been developing and manufacturing machines and systems for industrial drying and dewatering, primarily for the food industry. As a world-wide operating company, we generate more than 85% of our sales abroad. The key to our success is our team of over 160 employees at six locations. To strengthen our team in Pune, India, we are looking for a Design Engineer Your Responsibilities: Design and develop mechanical components and systems for drying, dewatering, and process equipment based on customer and project requirements. Create and maintain detailed 2D and 3D models, technical drawings, and documentation using AutoCAD and Volt. Perform technical calculations, pre‑dimensioning, and feasibility assessments for various drying, dewatering technologies, screw conveyors, mixers and vapor cleaning equipment etc. Prepare technical specifications, design reports, and engineering documentation for internal teams and suppliers. Incorporate VT equipment layout in customer’s overall plant layout, make changes as required by the customer Evaluate the technical offers of the suppliers for peripheral equipment such as screw conveyors, mixers, vapor cleaning equipment etc., incorporate their drawings in customer’s layout and give manufacturing clearance. Design interconnected ducting, piping, flanges, connections etc. Collaborate closely with process engineering, quality, manufacturing, and procurement to ensure accurate implementation of design requirements. Support the development and improvement of special dryers and equipment within the existing product portfolio. Participate in project planning from a technical perspective, ensuring compliance with standards, safety requirements, and customer specifications. Provide technical support during manufacturing, assembly, testing, and commissioning phases. Contribute to technology transfer and knowledge exchange between international branches and headquarters. Maintain engineering data and documentation within internal systems (e.g., ERP, PDM). Your Profile: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field. At least 5 years of experience in mechanical design or engineering of technically complex equipment or machinery. Strong understanding of process industry requirements, ideally related to drying, dewatering, or thermal/mechanical process equipment. Experience with drying or dewatering technologies is an advantage, especially in industries such as alcohol, starch, grain, or vegetable oil. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor and Volt for design and documentation. Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand complex technical and economic contexts quickly. Structured, reliable, and independent working style with strong teamwork and communication abilities. Willingness to travel occasionally for technical support, commissioning, or supplier visits.
