Role & Responsibilities
- Acquire and develop a reliable network of truck owners, fleet operators, brokers, transport agents and drivers across Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Satara and surrounding markets.
- Build strong professional relationships with genuine and reliable transport vendors for regular and urgent vehicle requirements.
- Understand customer requirements including origin, destination, material, weight, vehicle type, capacity and loading schedule.
- Source and arrange appropriate market vehicles for customer orders and ensure timely vehicle placement.
- Negotiate vehicle hire rates with owners, brokers and transport vendors while protecting Bhartiya Logistics' profitability.
- Compare vehicle options based on suitability, reliability, availability, market rate and previous vendor performance.
- Verify vehicle and vendor details before confirming placement and maintain accurate vendor records in the ERP/system.
- Maintain a dependable vendor pool for different vehicle types, routes and customer requirements.
- Coordinate between customers, vendors, drivers and the Bhartiya operations team for smooth vehicle placement and movement.
- Follow up on vehicle reporting, loading, dispatch and transit status and resolve placement-related issues promptly.
- Regularly visit transport markets, industrial areas and vendor locations to develop new vendor references and strengthen the procurement network.
- Maintain records of vendor performance, rates, cancellations, service issues and reliability.
- Continuously improve vehicle availability, placement success, procurement rates and contribution.
- Support the operations team in converting customer requirements into timely, reliable and profitable vehicle placements.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- 2-6 years of experience in vehicle procurement, transport operations, truck hiring, fleet procurement, logistics operations or transportation.
- Experience working with truck owners, brokers, fleet operators, transport agents or drivers will be strongly preferred.
- Candidates currently or previously working with logistics, transportation, freight, 3PL or transport brokerage companies are encouraged to apply.
- Good knowledge of the transport market in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and/or Satara will be an advantage.
- Strong vendor development, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to identify genuine and reliable vendors and select the right vehicle for specific customer requirements.
- Strong follow-up, coordination and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable with regular field visits and meeting transport vendors personally.
- Basic knowledge of smartphones, WhatsApp, Google Maps, Excel and ERP/transport software.
- Own two-wheeler and valid driving licence required for regular market and vendor visits.
- Smartphone with internet connectivity required for field coordination.
- Marathi and Hindi communication skills preferred; basic English communication required.
- Graduate preferred, but strong practical experience in transport procurement will also be considered.

The successful candidate should be able to identify genuine vendors, understand market availability, negotiate commercially appropriate rates and consistently arrange the right vehicle for the right customer requirement.
