Job Summary: The Physician Assistant (PA) supports ophthalmologists in providing high-quality patient care. The PA performs clinical assessments, assists during eye surgeries and procedures, provides patient education, and ensures smooth coordination of pre- and post-operative care. Key Responsibilities: Clinical Duties: Record patient history, symptoms, and perform basic diagnostic evaluations. Assist ophthalmologists in diagnosing eye conditions such as cataract, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, etc. Manage pre-operative and post-operative care of patients. Administer prescribed medications, eye drops, and injections as directed by the ophthalmologist. Support doctors during minor and major surgical procedures (e.g., cataract surgery, LASIK, etc.). Perform dressing and follow-up wound care as required. Administrative & Coordination Duties: Maintain accurate and updated patient medical records. Coordinate with other departments (optometry, pharmacy, nursing) to ensure efficient patient flow. Schedule patient appointments and assist in surgical planning. Ensure proper maintenance and sterilization of ophthalmic instruments. Patient Education & Counseling: Counsel patients on eye health, preventive care, and treatment plans. Educate patients about medication use, lifestyle modifications, and post-surgery instructions.
