Toxics Link Position: Manager - Communications Location: New Delhi Toxics Link is an environmental NGO, dedicated to bringing toxics related information into the public domain, both relating to struggles and problems at the grassroots as well as global information to the local levels. We work with other groups around the country as well as internationally in an understanding that this will help bring the experience of the ground to the fore, and lead to a more meaningful articulation of issues. Toxics Link also engages in on-the ground work especially in areas of hazardous and medical waste management, food safety and chemicals among others. Responsibilities Toxics Link is looking for a Manager – Communications to significantly enhance the impact of Toxics Link’s communication and information dissemination activities by producing high-quality reports/ documents /social media presence . As Manager-Communications , you will be responsible for, among other things: Developing systems and mechanisms to maximise dissemination of information; In collaboration with Program teams, converting available information into knowledge-based products, content editing and ensuring distribution; Preparing press note, press invite, press release, developing newsletters and event invites; coordinating press conference; Planning and managing events to increase awareness and sensitivity among various stakeholders on subject of environmental sustainability ; Building strong relationship with media to promote organizational goals; Actively engage with social media platforms for increasing outreach and Building and foster relationships with filmmakers, publisher, printers and designers. Toxics Link also engages in on-the ground work especially in areas of municipal, hazardous, medical, e-waste, plastic waste and management and food safety among others. Working in networks, utilizing community outreach and education, policy analysis, research, training and program development, we work at the state and central levels to help create solutions, which are driven by the needs of people. We are also involved in a wider range of environmental issues in Delhi and outside as part of a coalition of non-governmental organizations. The current opening is in the Waste and Sustainability team which primarily engages in research and advocacy for providing sustainable solutions and effective policies to improve the current waste management system in the country. The team advocates for both upstream and downstream solutions and engages with diverse stakeholders to achieve that. The key interventions include policy analysis, generation of data, documentation of best practices, creation of models, building capacity of policy makers and other stakeholders and campaigning. The position is based in New Delhi. JOB PROFILE The candidate will be expected to contribute to the team’s overall work, especially on research, advocacy and project implementation. Specific tasks will involve- · Provide leadership and strategic guidance to the waste team Publication of research reports on waste and related issues; Data Analysis and Information synthesis required for specific research; Designing and executing campaigns on environmental issues Project planning and its effective implementation Networking and facilitating fund raising Represent organization in various forums SKILLS Excellent writing skills, should be able to present information in both research as well as outreach form Ability to comprehend and synthesize diverse information; Good communication and networking ability; Ability to work under deadlines; Ability to lead a team of professionals. QUALIFICATIONS: Should be post-graduate/PhD in environmental sciences/ environmental management/ engineering/ social science stream from a recognized university. Candidate with masters in other stream can also apply but preference will be given to science background. Should have minimum 8 years of working experience in the development sector; previous experience in environmental sector (especially waste management) will be an advantage.
