Base Starting Salary $54,477 (CW)/$51,029(CWT) TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: Interviews clients, family members and others to gather information related to economic situation, emotional state, social relationships, personal characteristics, education and employment information, living arrangements, etc.; Reviews existing case records and consults with agency staff to obtain additional background information; Consults with other service agencies who may be involved with clients and their families; Evaluates available information and identifies the need for services; Formulates a service plan to meet the needs of the client and their family; Consults with supervisor relative appropriateness of service plan; Discuss relevant portions of service plan with client and family and establishes a relationship with them to persuade them to cooperate and participate in the plan; Provides counseling to motivate the client and their family and to increase their capacity and confidence in their ability to handle problems; Works closely with other staff members and other service providers in carrying out the service plan; Monitors progress of client and family and conducts regular and special case reviews to determine the effectiveness of the service plan and the need for modification and/or addition of services; When foster care of a child is indicated makes a recommendation as to what type of foster care would best meet the needs of the child; Works with the child's family in order to return a child in foster care to his or her home as soon as circumstances and conditions permit; May conduct investigations of child abuse and neglect; Prepares precise, detailed records and reports; Operates a personal computer and/or mainframe terminal to enter and retrieve information; May be required to testify in a court of law or administrative hearing and assists in preparations for such hearing or trial; Responsible for periodic on-call coverage at night and on weekends to handle all types of social service emergencies. The Patient Access Representative welcomes, greets, interviews patients and/or representatives in person or over the telephone to ensure their initial experience with the hospital is exceptional. We offer 4-6 weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of the training will be based on schedule or will be discussed on your first day of employment. Primary Responsibilities Communicates directly with patients and / or families either in person or on the phone to complete the registration process by collecting patient demographics, health information, and verifying insurance eligibility / benefits Utilizes computer systems to enter access or verify patient data in real - time ensuring accuracy and completeness of information Gathers necessary clinical information and processes referrals, pre-certification, pre-determinations, and pre-authorizes according to insurance plan requirements Verifies insurance coverage, benefits, and creates price estimates, reverifications as needed Collects patient co-pays as appropriate and conducts conversations with patients on their out-of-pocket financial obligations Identifies outstanding balances from patient’s previous visits and attempts to collect any amount due Responsible for collecting data directly from patients and referring provider offices to confirm and create scheduled appointments for patient services prior to hospital discharge Responds to patient and caregivers' inquiries related to routine and sensitive topics always in a compassionate and respectful manner Generates, reviews, and analyzes patient data reports and follows up on issues and inconsistencies as necessary Maintains up-to-date knowledge of specific registration requirements for all areas, including but not limited to: Main Admitting, OP Registration, ED Registration, Maternity, and Rehabilitation units You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.
