Operations Manager - Food Processing chennai 4 - 8 years INR 6.0 - 7.5 Lacs P.A. Work from Office Full Time

Job Mission: To build and lead the operational backbone of our direct-to-consumer (D2C) baby food brand. You will be responsible for flawless execution from production support to final dispatch, ensuring the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and safety while building a culture of continuous improvement. This role has a clear path to a Head of Operations position within 18-24 months, based on demonstrated performance in building scalable systems and leading teams. Key Responsibilities: 1. Operational Excellence & Maintenance: Act as the first point of contact for all equipment breakdowns (AC, dehumidifier, band sealer, electrical issues), ensuring less than 1% machine downtime. Build and maintain a verified, reliable vendor network (electricians, mechanics, HVAC technicians) to resolve issues within 24 hours. Perform basic troubleshooting and implement a strict preventive maintenance calendar for all machinery. Role & responsibilities 2. Production, Quality & Dispatch Management: Supervise the packing team to ensure strict adherence to quality, GMP, and safety protocols (hairnets, gloves, hygiene). Manage inventory of finished goods and packaging materials, ensuring >95% inventory accuracy through weekly audits. Own the end-to-end dispatch process, achieving and maintaining a 99.5% on-time dispatch rate. 3. System & Process Building: Develop, implement, and audit clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all critical processes (machine operation, cleaning, maintenance, packing). Use data (Excel/Sheets) to track performance metrics, identify trends, and drive operational improvements. Must-Have Criteria: Resourceful & Hands-On: Doesn't see problems, sees solutions. Not afraid to open up a machine to diagnose an issue. Knows how to get things done in the local Chennai context. Vendor Manager: Proven ability to find, negotiate with, and manage local service providers effectively. Process-Oriented: Believes in creating checklists, SOPs, and systems for repeatable, scalable results. Data-Driven: Comfortable using basic tools to track metrics and make informed decisions. Leader: Minimum 2-3 years of experience in training, managing, and leading a team of 3-5 people. Industry Experience: 3-5 years of experience in FMCG, Food Processing, Pharma, or E-commerce logistics operations is preferred. Preferred candidate profile Preferred Qualifications: Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering OR B.Sc. (Chemistry, Physics, Food Technology, Microbiology, Biochemistry).
