Job Description

At Sustainability Intelligence (SI), you are part of a team that is revolutionizing the conversion of climate and disaster risk data into actionable intelligence. As a research-driven startup, you are working on a WebGIS-based decision-support platform that provides in-depth, spatially contextual insights for various industries and infrastructure stakeholders. As a Technical Expert in Climate Change & Disaster Risk Assessment, your role involves leveraging your expertise in GIS, Remote Sensing, and climate risk analysis to process spatial data and translate findings into actionable insights for decision-making across industrial and infrastructure sectors. Your responsibilities include: - Applied Research & Innovation - Integrating findings from reputable sources such as IPCC, UNDRR, and scientific literature - Developing and adapting risk assessment methodologies for practical industry application - Spatial Analysis & Remote Sensing - Managing spatial datasets related to climate variables, natural hazards, land use, and socio-economic exposure - Designing workflows for multi-hazard and multi-criteria assessments using GIS/RS tools - Data Interpretation & Insight Generation - Converting geospatial outputs into meaningful insights for stakeholders - Contributing to the creation of sector-specific risk and resilience indicators - Tool & Product Development - Building analytical modules and backend logic for a WebGIS-based decision-support tool - Assisting in data visualization strategies in collaboration with UI/UX teams - Collaboration & Communication - Participating in interdisciplinary co-creation, prototyping, and iteration - Effectively communicating results to both technical and non-technical audiences In terms of qualifications, you should have: - A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in climate/disaster risk analytics with a strong background in GIS/RS - Proficiency in tools such as QGIS, Google Earth Engine, ArcGIS, Python (geospatial stack), or R - Familiarity with hazard datasets and climate models (e.g., flood, drought, cyclone) - Skills in contextual storytelling and strategic data interpretation - Experience with WebGIS platforms is preferred - Understanding of global frameworks like IPCC, UNDRR, and Sendai Framework At Sustainability Intelligence (SI), you will have the opportunity to: - Shape the operationalization of climate risk in industries - Work in a non-hierarchical, inclusive environment focused on innovation - Gain exposure to both product development and applied research - Be part of a growth-oriented culture that values initiative, depth, and shared learning To apply for this role, please email the following to [spandan.b@sustaintel.com]: - Your updated CV - A brief statement of interest (maximum 300 words) - 12 work samples showcasing maps, dashboards, reports, or research projects Join us at Sustainability Intelligence (SI) to make a significant impact in the field of climate and disaster risk intelligence.,
