Job Description

ROLE PURPOSE:

Provide technical, operational, and people leadership for the MEP engineering function supporting US-based stadiums, sports complexes, arenas, and large-venue construction projects from Turner Technical Services offices in Mumbai or Bengaluru. Lead multidisciplinary engineering coordination, technical reviews, constructability, procurement support, testing and commissioning, quality, safety, schedule, risk, event-readiness, and system turnover.

The Team Lead will coordinate with US project teams, owners, architects, design consultants, commissioning agents, trade partners, manufacturers, venue operators, technology providers, and internal teams. The role may be calibrated based on project complexity, technical accountability, team leadership, and demonstrated proficiency against the Engineering Career Development Qualifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technical & team leadership:

Lead, mentor, and develop MEP engineering professionals; establish technical priorities, quality expectations, and delivery commitments.
  • Project delivery:

Lead engineering coordination for stadiums, arenas, sports complexes, training facilities, and other large public-assembly venues.
  • MEP systems:

Oversee HVAC, ventilation, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, controls, electrical distribution, emergency power, lighting, sports lighting, and life-safety systems.
  • Venue-specific systems:

Coordinate field/turf systems, retractable roofs and seating, scoreboards, LED displays, broadcast infrastructure, AV/ICT, security, access control, public-address, and venue technology.
  • Crowd & life safety:

Support engineering solutions for egress, emergency communication, mass notification, fire protection, crowd movement, accessibility, and event-day safety.
  • Hospitality & athlete facilities:

Coordinate MEP requirements for suites, premium clubs, concessions, kitchens, locker rooms, training areas, medical facilities, and athlete-support spaces.
  • Design & constructability:

Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, calculations, equipment selections, and installation sequencing; identify and resolve coordination issues.
  • Testing & commissioning:

Coordinate TAB, equipment start-up, controls verification, functional testing, emergency-power testing, life-safety testing, integrated systems testing, and event simulations.
  • Project controls:

Track engineering deliverables, RFIs, submittals, procurement, long-lead equipment, schedule constraints, commissioning activities, and event-readiness milestones.
  • Risk management:

Identify and mitigate technical, schedule, quality, safety, life-safety, operational, and event-readiness risks.
  • Stakeholder management:

Maintain effective relationships with project teams, clients, designers, contractors, venue operators, commissioning agents, and technology providers.
  • Closeout & turnover:

Coordinate record documents, O&M manuals, warranties, test reports, commissioning documentation, training, and final system acceptance.
  • Continuous improvement:

Promote Lean practices, standardization, knowledge sharing, digital tools, and lessons learned across projects.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant experience of 12+ years, at least 5 years in sports complex/stadium projects
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Progressive experience in MEP engineering, construction engineering, design coordination, commissioning, or complex building-project delivery.
  • Stadium, arena, sports complex, entertainment, hospitality, or large public-assembly experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical distribution, emergency power, plumbing, fire protection, controls, lighting, life safety, ICT, AV, and building systems.
  • Understanding of US building, electrical, mechanical, fire/life-safety, accessibility, and public-assembly codes and standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor engineers.
  • Strong technical problem-solving, communication, coordination, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Experience project platforms such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, or similar tools preferred.
