Location: Kolkata, India Sustainable Green Initiative is an organization that has been planting trees to combat hunger, nutrition and climate change for the last 14 years. We also engage with local communities amongst whom we plant these trees to help them better appreciate the value of aforestation and tree planting initiatives. In the same vein, we look to branch out into creating illustrated/animated content that will be shared primarily amongst the youth and children enrolled in schools. The idea is to create entertaining and educative content that one can watch and learn from on their own, or be used within a classroom setting as a teaching/informative aid. With this endeavor we aim to instill a sense of compassion and respect for nature and trees amongst the future youth while also giving them factual, scientific knowledge in an easy to understand and entertaining format. We seek creative, imaginative and talented 2D illustrators and animators who are well versed in production (pre-production, production, and post-production) to create animated, informative and educational content. Applicants should be proficient with character design, storyboarding, creating unique visual art styles, and other aspects of the scene. Knowledge of basic visual effects, and creative rendering processes (stop motion, rotoscopy) will be an advantage. Skills/Qualifications: Knowledge and ideation with forms of animation such as claymation, stop motion, pinscreen, cut-out, etc will be highly valued. Innovative, creative ideas and approaches to the art will be highly encouraged. Skills we require from our illustrators/animators: Training in 2D animation, either cel or computer graphics (knowledge of both) Ability to visualize abstract concepts Experience with storyboarding, clean ups & layout design Drawing ability, artistic mindset Visual storytelling Ability to draw in a variety of styles & variations Familiarity with a range of animation software & techniques Roles and Responsibilities Applicants will be tasked with creating content within a framework set by the team. Aside from the basic tasks, your individual creativity and ideas will be sought and encouraged. The basic responsibilities of our illustrators/animators are: Liaising with team regarding the style, method, and execution of the animation to be produced Developing storyboards based on the script Preparing presentations of rough sketches Creating models, drawings, and illustrations Designing frames and characters Choosing color palettes, style, and general look of the animation including post production rendering styles Establishing artwork for the backgrounds and layouts Setting up exposure sheets, divided into actions and timing, dialogues and music, animation layers, backgrounds, view perspective Drawing rough sketches and animating Inking, coloring, and clean ups Integrating images, characters, etc into background graphics Preparing all animation elements for compositing, including delivering in set formats Enhancing animation with special effects at the post-production stage Knowledge & Experience with Softwares and Tools: We encourage animation in all forms. Be it as rudimentary as pen and paper, paint and cels, clay, digitally created, or with use of other props including puppets, models, flipbooks, etc. Creativity, imagination and an eagerness to create should be your most valuable asset.
