Job Description Job role : Fabric Expert Location : Anna nagar, Chennai Qualification : A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Interior Design, or a related field is typically required. Key Responsibilities: Trend Research: Researching current and upcoming trends in colors, patterns, and textile materials to ensure designs and selections are fresh and competitive. Design & Development: Developing original fabric patterns, sketches, and digital designs using computer-aided design (CAD) software like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Material Selection & Sourcing: Selecting appropriate fabrics (e.g., cotton, linen, silk, synthetics), textures, and colors based on a project's functional and aesthetic needs, and coordinating with suppliers for procurement. Technical Specifications: Preparing detailed production guidelines, including fabric types, color codes (like Pantone chips), and printing or weaving techniques, and overseeing the sampling process. Client & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with clients, interior designers, production teams, and marketing to understand requirements, present design concepts, and ensure the final product meets quality standards and buyer expectations. Quality Control & Project Management: Conducting quality checks on materials, managing project timelines and budgets, and ensuring all fabric choices comply with relevant industry standards. Soft skill: High level of creativity and a strong eye for detail. Excellent communication and presentation skills to articulate design ideas to various stakeholders. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Negotiation skills for working with suppliers and vendors. Technical skill: Proficiency in design software (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, CAD software). Strong understanding of textile properties, weaving/printing techniques, and color theory. Knowledge of fabric production processes and quality standards.
