ABOUT US

At OakNorth, we're on a mission to empower ambitious businesses and the communities they serve. Since 2015, we've lent over $21 billion across the UK and US, helped create more than 58,000 new homes and 36,000 new jobs, and supported hundreds of thousands of personal savers — all while driving economic growth in the markets we serve.

nCino on Salesforce is the platform our lending teams use to originate, approve and manage commercial loans in the UK and US. As Staff Engineer you will be the technical lead for the Salesforce / nCino engineering team in Gurugram. You will own the technical direction of the platform, lead the team's most complex work hands-on, and be the main engineering contact for Lending, Credit and CRM stakeholders.

• Integration modernisation: Lead the move of nCino integrations with our core lending platform off MuleSoft onto direct, well-tested integrations, and retire the old flows safely.

• Platform upgrades: Plan and lead nCino release upgrades across the team, including impact analysis, regression testing and rollout.

• Production support: Own production stability for the lending platform. Lead incident response, root-cause analysis and fixes so loans keep booking without disruption.

• Regulatory change: Deliver regulatory changes in nCino, such as Basel 3.1 requirements, with the audit trail and change control a regulated bank needs.

• Integrations: Design and build integrations between nCino and our CRM, customer portal, customer due diligence (KYC) and credit bureau services, including via our data warehouse.

• Data privacy and access: Lead data privacy work such as record anonymisation, and standardise access rights and the security model across the org.

• Standard features first: Enable standard nCino features (for example product packages) instead of building custom code, and reduce existing customisation where possible.

• Test automation and delivery: Work with QA to grow automated test coverage and improve CI/CD for Salesforce deployments.

• Documentation and debt: Keep technical documentation current, and tidy up technical debt and deprecated components.

• 12+ years of Salesforce engineering experience, including at least 3 years on nCino (Commercial Banking / Loan Origination) or a similar lending platform built on Salesforce

• Deep hands-on skills in Apex, Lightning Web Components, SOQL/SOSL, Flows and Platform Events, and a clear view of when to use configuration and when to use code

• Strong knowledge of the nCino data model and features: relationships, loans, product packages, covenants, collateral and the loan lifecycle

• Integration design experience: REST/SOAP APIs, middleware such as MuleSoft, event-driven patterns, Named Credentials and OAuth, plus error handling and reconciliation between systems

• Salesforce security model: profiles, permission sets, sharing rules and field-level security, and how to design these for least privilege

• Salesforce DX, source control (GitHub), automated testing and CI/CD pipelines for Salesforce (e.g. SFDX, Gearset or Copado)

• Experience planning and running managed-package upgrades with minimal disruption to users

• Experience working in a regulated environment, such as a bank or financial services firm, with change control, auditability and data protection (GDPR)

• Proven technical leadership: setting standards, reviewing code, mentoring engineers, breaking down and estimating work, and making sound trade-offs

• Clear communicator who can work directly with Lending, Credit and Product stakeholders across UK, US and India time zones

• Salesforce certifications (Platform Developer II, Application Architect, Integration Architect) and nCino certifications

• Understanding of commercial lending products and processes, including syndicated lending

• Experience with data warehouses (e.g. BigQuery) and moving data between Salesforce and other systems

• Experience using AI-assisted development tools in day-to-day engineering

We're pragmatic about our technology choices. These are some of the things we use at the moment:

• Salesforce Platform, nCino

• Apex, Lightning Web Components, SOQL, Flows, Platform Events

• Salesforce DX, GitHub, CI/CD

• MuleSoft (being retired), REST APIs, Python and NodeJS services

• PostgreSQL, BigQuery

• AWS, GCP

• incident.io, Jira

We expect you to work in these ways, as well as encouraging and enabling these practices from others:

• Collaborate - We work in cross-functional, mission driven, autonomous squads that gel over time. We pair program to work better through shared experience and knowledge.

• Focus on outcomes over outputs - Solving a problem for users that translates to business results is our goal. Measurements focused on that goal help us to understand if we are succeeding.

• Practice continuous improvement - We optimize for feedback now, rather than presume what might be needed in the future and introduce complexity before it will be used. We share learnings in blame-free formats, so that we do not repeat things that have failed, but still have confidence to innovate.

• Seek to understand our users - We constantly seek understanding from data and conversations to better serve our users' needs.

• Test outside-in, test first - TDD keeps us confident in moving fast and deploying regularly. We write scenarios first, coupling tests to behavior rather than implementation.

• You build it, you run it - We embrace DevOps culture and end-to-end ownership of products and features. Every engineer has the opportunity to lead delivery of features from start to finish.

• Embrace difference - No egos - people listen to and learn from others at all levels, with strong opinions held loosely. A wide range of voices heard to the benefit of all.

• Health & Protection: Medical cover for you, your family & parents; life and accidental cover at a multiple of your salary

• Wellbeing: Annual health check-ups, online doctor consultations, pharmacy discounts, nutritionist support, and an Employee Assistance Programme — all sponsored

• Time Off: Earned, casual/sick leave, public holidays, maternity & paternity leave

• Life Milestones: A financial gesture of support at marriage, childbirth, and bereavement

• Flexible Benefits: Tax-efficient allowances for internet, fuel, meals, leave & travel, and NPS

• Growth: Professional certification support, learning & development opportunities, childcare benefits, and paid volunteering days

• Our Workplace: Modern central offices, weekly business updates, team events, and great coffee — we work hard to build a culture worth showing up for
