Position Title Senior Manager Design Department R&D Reporting To General Manager Design & Advanced Engineering Key Purpose of the Job (Position Summary) This position is responsible for review & release new product designs & platforms as per developed methodologies and as per the new product development plan for design categories. To carryout technology development projects and design process efficiency improvement projects as per Design technology development roadmap & Design Automation roadmap. To coordinate with vendors and plant moulds shops for mould and tooling development for new designs. Education and Experience Required Education: B. Tech. or B.E. (Mechanical / Automobile) Experience: 8-10 years of experience in relevant design role. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS Number of design release and timeline adherence to NPD calendar Number of new pattern development meeting design targets Design Process Efficiency Improvements Design Capability Improvements Timely delivery of NPD moulds Timely update of various dashboards and status reports Technology Project Execution Success Rate Training & Competency Development KEY ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES New Product Design & Drawings To review & release new product design as per new product development plan and adhering design procedures. To review & release platform head size developments as per new product development roadmap and adhering design procedures. To develop new patterns for various applications meeting performance targets To review & execute technology projects in design inline with R&D technology roadmap To meet OEM targets by developing necessary designs To review & release design process efficiency improvement projects [Digitalisation Adaption, Robust Design Guidelines Enhance Technical competency level of self and team by providing them on-job training, mentoring based on skill sets needed for tyre and mould design Must have excellent hand on experience AutoCAD, Siemens NX, PLM and CAD customisation Mould Vendor Management Review of tyre/mould design drawings prepared based on design reviews and release mould drawings/3d models to mould suppliers as per mould design guidelines Regularly follow-up with the vendor to check the mould status, track the mould dispatch and ensure on-time delivery of mould by the vendor Participate in new vendor selection and develop and improve mould vendors Other Important activities Ensure project management of design release and technology development projects with respect to Quality, Cost and Deliverables Visit the plant for inspecting and checking the cured tyres and related defects/improvements Update design guidelines based on learnings and ensured knowledge sharing to team PLM adherence related to design activities Ensuring IP protection of design through patents and design registrations
