Spurt Electric Ltd (Ahmedabad) is looking for an AutoCAD-focused Design Engineer (2W) with an Automobile/Mechanical bachelor’s degree and 1–3 years’ experience to support electric two-wheeler and e-bike product development. The role centers on 2D manufacturing drawings, 3D modeling support, and release of design packages for production and vendors. Experience and education Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Automobile Engineering (or Mechanical with strong automotive exposure). 1–3 years in two-wheeler/EV component design, detailing, or automotive drafting. Core responsibilities (AutoCAD + 2W design) Create and maintain 2D manufacturing drawings in AutoCAD: layouts, sections, weld symbols, fits, and tolerances as applicable. Prepare complete drawing packs for two-wheeler parts and assemblies (release-ready PDFs/DWGs), including revisions and change notes. Coordinate with fabrication/assembly/vendors to clarify drawings, update dimensions, and close manufacturability feedback loops. Support 3D modeling workflows (as used in the team) and generate 2D drawings from 3D where required for productionization. Two-wheeler modeling/design scope (what you should cover) Frame/chassis & brackets: mounting points, gussets, weldments, tolerances, and clearances. Suspension & steering packaging: fork/triple clamp clearances, steering stops, rake/trail intent documentation (as per internal standards). Wheel-end & brakes: wheel/tire envelope, disc/caliper mounts, axle interfaces, alignment references. Powertrain & drivetrain packaging (EV): motor mounting, belt/chain line references (if applicable), protection covers, service access. Battery & electrical packaging: battery box/enclosure drawings, mounting strategy, routing zones for harness, connectors, clamps, and protective sleeves (design intent + drawing notes). Body/plastics & sheet-metal: surface intent references, fastening strategy, panel gaps/flushness callouts (where applicable). Required AutoCAD skills (must-have) Strong 2D drafting: layers/standards, dimensioning, GD&T basics, title blocks, layout/plotting, and sheet sets. Ability to transition between 2D drafting and 3D visualization/modeling in AutoCAD (or supporting CAD tools used by the team). Good understanding of tolerancing intent (GD&T fundamentals) to communicate manufacturability and assembly requirements. Deliverables expected 2D part drawings: fully dimensioned, toleranced, correct views/sections, material/finish notes. Assembly drawings: BOM (if applicable), critical-to-assembly dimensions, datum scheme/inspection notes as needed. Revision-controlled drawing sets and release documentation suitable for vendors and production. Soft skills and collaboration Strong coordination with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, quality, sourcing, service). Good documentation discipline (drawing standards adherence, revision history, clear notes). Preferred (nice-to-have) Exposure to prototyping methods (3D printing/CNC) and incorporating build feedback into drawings.
