Job Title: Astronomy Educator / Space Science Educator Profile Summary: We are looking for a passionate Astronomy Educator to engage with students and the general public, creating awareness and interest in astronomy and space science . The ideal candidate will communicate scientific concepts effectively, inspire curiosity, and promote space education through interactive programs and outreach activities. Key Roles & Responsibilities: Conduct astronomy observations and hands-on training on telescopes and other scientific instruments at SPACE sites (evening and night sessions). Maintain high-quality standards in all programs and sessions. Plan and execute client programs, sessions, workshops, and events, adhering to schedules and agendas. Organize and manage outreach events under the banner of SPACE India. Represent the organization in media interactions, interviews, talk shows , and contribute articles or papers to magazines and newspapers as per company policy. Promote and propagate astronomy and space science education among students and the public. Organize and participate in science fairs, quiz competitions, public observations , and other student engagement activities. Implement innovative teaching techniques with a student-centered approach, incorporating multiple learning styles and interactive practices. Volunteer and actively participate in initiatives aimed at popularizing astronomy among the masses. Key Responsibilities Conduct stargazing sessions for guests and groups, explaining celestial objects such as constellations, planets, and galaxies. Operate and maintain astronomical instruments like telescopes, binoculars, and tracking devices. Deliver interactive astronomy presentations and storytelling sessions to make learning enjoyable. Coordinate with the operations team to set up and manage event logistics for night sky observation sessions. Handle crowd engagement and ensure a smooth visitor experience during public watches, school camps, and corporate events. Assist in event planning and execution for astronomy fairs, workshops, and outreach programs. Stay updated with current astronomical phenomena (e.g., eclipses, meteor showers, planet conjunctions) to curate relevant event themes. Maintain proper records of events , footfall, and feedback for reporting purposes. Be flexible to work at different Astroport sites and travel as per event schedules. Skills & Qualifications Bachelors degree in Astronomy, Physics, Space Science, or a related field (preferred). Strong knowledge of night sky observation techniques and celestial navigation. Experience handling telescopes and related instruments . Excellent communication and presentation skills in English and Hindi. Passion for educating and inspiring people about space and science. Ability to manage large groups and public events with patience and enthusiasm. Flexibility to work during evenings, weekends, and travel frequently . Preferred Attributes Prior experience as a stargazing guide, educator, or science communicator . Basic knowledge of astrophotography or interest in developing it.
