Job Description – Rubber Vertical Location: Bhuj / Ahmedabad (based on business requirement and travel necessity) Experience Required: 12 to 16 Years in the Rubber Industry Overview: This role is responsible for managing and expanding the Rubber Vertical at Rio Clays Pvt. Ltd. The individual will be involved in both technical and commercial aspects, ensuring that the company’s minerals and specialty products meet the expectations of the rubber industry through effective coordination between customers, QA/QC, Production, and R&D. The person should possess a strong understanding of rubber compounding, raw material requirements, processing technologies, and customer applications, along with the ability to represent Rio Clays at exhibitions, customer visits, and industry events. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Sales & Business Development Drive sales of Rio Clays’ minerals and specialty products in the rubber and allied industries. Achieve annual revenue, profitability, and market share targets in line with business goals. Identify and develop new customers, market segments, and strategic business opportunities. Build technical-commercial proposals, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely closure of deals. Monitor order flow, delivery schedules, and payment collections to ensure smooth business operations. Ensure periodic price updates, forecasts, and market analysis reports to management. Customer Relationship & Technical Understanding Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers, distributors, and industry stakeholders. Conduct regular customer visits, audits, and technical discussions to understand product usage, challenges, and performance expectations. Translate customer needs into technical inputs for R&D, QA/QC, and Production teams to align product development and quality standards. Provide on-site support and guidance during trials, product testing, or troubleshooting. Represent the company at industry exhibitions, trade fairs, seminars, and promotional gatherings, presenting the technical and performance benefits of Rio Clays’ materials. Participate in social or technical events to promote brand visibility and network with industry professionals. Technical Expertise & Support Maintain in-depth knowledge of rubber raw materials, including natural and synthetic rubbers (SBR, NBR, EPDM, BR, etc.), fillers, curing systems, accelerators, process aids, and reinforcing agents. Collaborate with QA/QC and R&D teams to develop or refine product grades based on customer applications and feedback. Understand rubber processing parameters (mixing, dispersion, extrusion, vulcanization) and provide insights to improve product compatibility and performance. Support troubleshooting activities related to compound performance, dispersion quality, or processing difficulties. Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements relevant to rubber manufacturing and materials. Market Intelligence & Reporting Track and analyze market developments, competitor strategies, and pricing trends. Provide management with data-driven insights on customer demand patterns and new opportunities. Identify areas for product improvement or diversification in the rubber segment. Prepare monthly/quarterly business performance reports, highlighting key metrics, opportunities, and action plans. Cross-Functional Coordination Act as the communication bridge between Sales, QA/QC, Production, and R&D teams to ensure customer requirements are accurately translated into product specifications. Work with Production to ensure that the supplied materials meet the customer’s technical expectations. Coordinate with R&D for trial samples, formulation adjustments, and technical documentation. Collaborate with Marketing for product presentations, brochures, and technical data sheets. Conduct internal technical knowledge-sharing sessions to strengthen product understanding across teams. Exhibitions, Events & Industry Representation Plan, organize, and participate in national and international rubber exhibitions to represent Rio Clays’ capabilities. Engage with customers and industry professionals during events to showcase the company’s product applications. Generate leads, document discussions, and follow up with customers post-event for business conversion. Support the creation of technical and promotional materials for exhibitions, including display content and product samples. Participate in seminars, conferences, and industrial visits to stay updated on emerging technologies and build networking opportunities. Education & Experience Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Rubber Technology, Polymer Science, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering. 12–16 years of relevant experience in technical sales, business development, or application engineering in the rubber industry. Proven record of managing strategic accounts and technical sales growth. Skills, Knowledge & Competencies Strong understanding of rubber compounding principles, raw materials, and manufacturing processes. Ability to interpret customer requirements and convert them into internal action points for R&D and QA/QC. Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. Analytical thinker with a solution-oriented and strategic approach. Proficiency in MS Office, CRM tool-Salesforce and technical documentation. Comfortable with frequent travel, plant visits, and customer interactions. Demonstrated ability to represent the company confidently at technical, social, and promotional events. Self-motivated, performance-driven, and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively.
