As a Commis 1 - Cold Kitchen, you will play a key supporting role in the preparation of vibrant, fresh, and visually striking cold dishes. Instagram: zamazulu_sa Key Responsibilities: Assist the Cold CDP in preparing cold dishes, salads, starters, dressings, and more Handle mise en place preparation - chopping vegetables, prepping fruits, making garnishes, organizing cold ingredients, and preparing simple cold items Ensure all ingredients are fresh, well-stocked, and properly stored following hygiene standards Support cold dish plating during service, maintaining consistency, neatness, and speed Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic workstation at all times Practice proper food handling, labeling, and FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures Learn and follow the presentation and flavor style of the restaurant, inspired by African and Zulu cuisine Communicate clearly with chefs and fellow team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations Assist with cleaning tasks, stock rotation, and inventory checks as required. Job Summary: We are seeking a passionate and skilled Chef de Partie - Hot Section (Sauté) in our high-energy, African Zulu-themed restaurant. You will be responsible for preparing bold, flavorful, sautéed and pan-finished dishes with precision, speed, and flair. As part of a kitchen that is closely connected to the front-of-house, you'll work with confidence and charisma, contributing to the vibrant rhythm and theatrical dining experience that sets us apart. Key Responsibilities: Take full ownership of the sauté/hot station, ensuring dishes are prepared to recipe specifications with consistency and speed Execute sautéed meats, seafood, vegetables, sauces, and finishing techniques with precision Work closely with the Head Chef and team to maintain high standards of flavor, seasoning, and presentation across all hot dishes Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation before, during, and after service Coordinate with other CDPs (especially Oven and Grill) for smooth timing and plating during peak service Assist in menu testing, development, and daily mise en place preparation for the hot section Maintain portion control, food safety, and hygiene standards at all times.
