Job Title: Librarian School: Orchids The International School Position Overview: Orchids The International School is looking for a dedicated and well-organized Librarian to lead the development and daily operations of the school library. The ideal candidate will cultivate a vibrant learning space that inspires a love for books, promotes information literacy, and supports both students and educators with relevant academic resources. The Librarian will be responsible for organizing and maintaining physical and digital collections, guiding students in research, and collaborating with faculty to enrich the learning experience. Key Responsibilities: 1. Library Operations & Resource Organization Maintain an accurate and up-to-date catalog of books, periodicals, and digital content. Classify, label, and organize materials using appropriate cataloguing systems. Enforce lending policies, manage returns, and oversee replacement procedures. 2. Student & Faculty Engagement Organize reading-related activities such as book fairs, storytelling sessions, and literary events. Assist users in locating resources and developing effective research and referencing skills. Encourage reading habits through personalized reading recommendations and literacy programs. 3. Digital Tools & Content Management Oversee the use and maintenance of digital platforms and e-library tools. Train students in navigating online databases and credible digital research tools. Monitor educational trends and suggest new titles and resources that support evolving academic needs. 4. Collaborative Curriculum Support Partner with teachers to source materials that align with lesson plans and academic goals. Provide specialized resources for students with unique reading or learning needs. Foster a respectful and productive environment within the library setting. 5. Administrative & Budgetary Responsibilities Manage inventory, procurement, and loss prevention strategies. Prepare and present budget proposals for new acquisitions and resource upgrades. Compile reports on library utilization and student engagement for periodic review. Qualifications & Desired Skills: Bachelors or Masters degree in Library Science or a related discipline. Prior experience managing a school or academic library is highly desirable. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with digital learning resources, online research tools, and library management systems. Passionate about reading, education, and supporting student development.
